Inky Paws 137 Christmas Card

 hi!

Happy last day of November! There's one more week left on the current inky paws color challenge of lime green, grass green, red, and white. Link a card up to the challenge here for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online store :)

I used the gorgeous Holiday Foliage stencil for my background. I kept it white on white, embossing it with Ranger Texture Paste, although I did add a little bit of extra texture with Wink of Stella shimmer and Glossy Accents on all of the berries. I stamped the cute little holiday girl from the Christmas Trimmings stamp set on a tag I cut with the Fancy Edges Tag die set. I colored her with Copics, adding some Shimmer and Glossy Accents to the lights. I stamped my sentiment on red cardstock with Versamark and embossed it with white embossing powder before fussy cutting it out. I added some fun details to the tag with green and red cardstock and the same die set and called it done!

P.S. Our Elf on the Shelf arrives tonight! follow along on instagram starting tomorrow at  #stanleetheelf2020 for this year's antics and #stanleetheelf for all of his shenanigans from every year!

very merry modern christmas

 Hello! Happy Thanksgiving week!

I love how this card turned out. It's for a new Inky Paws Challenge starting today, it's a color challenge with lime green, grass green, red, and white. Link a card up to the challenge here in the next two weeks for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online store :)

I went for an out of character modern look with the Tiny Trees stencil and I love how it turned out! I embossed the stencil with Ranger Texture Paste and then inked the whole thing in Twisted Citron Distress Oxide ink after the paste dried. Next I went row by row, adding a strip of masking tape and inking half of each tree with Pine Needles Distress Oxide ink. It looks so cool! I added a stamped, embossed, and fussy cut sentiment from the Ornamental Wishes stamp set and then finished the card off with a few dots of red puffy paint.

I hope you have a happy (and socially distant!) Thanksgiving!

a tropical christmas!

 Hello!

This is the second week of the "Use Your Favorite Newton's Nook Designs Product" Inky Paws Challenge. You have until Friday night to link a card up to the challenge for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online store!

If you've been around awhile you've probably guessed that the Tropical Leaves Stencil is my very very tippy top favorite Newton's Nook Designs product. ever. Like if I could only choose one stencil to use for forever, it would be this one. I really wanted to use it on a Christmas card so I decided to pair it with another favorite, the Sun Soaked Christmas stamp set. I embossed and inked up my background and then die cut a circle out of the right side using the Circle Frames die set. I stamped my image on a card base and then colored it in with Copic Markers. I did a little masking to ink up my background and then added the sentiment. I used foam adhesive to attach my stenciled background (foreground?) and then finished it off with some tiny little red dots of Puffy Paint.

Inky Paws Challenge 136

Hello!

We've got a new Inky Paws Challenge starting today. The challenge is to use a favorite Newton's Nook Designs stamp set! Link a card up to the challenge here in the next two weeks for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online store!

I'm a sucker for a cute Christmas train stamp set so I used the All Aboard for Christmas stamp set for this fun slimline card. I stamped all of my images and colored them with Copic Markers before fussy cutting them out. I inked up my background before cutting it out with the scalloped rectangle from the Slimline Frames and Portholes die set. I created the rest of my background with the Land Borders die set and the Forest Scene Builders die set. I put everything together and added some puffs of smoke from the train, a sentiment, and some glossy accents and pom poms!

I hope you have a chance to play along with this challenge! I can't wait to see what your favorite Newton's Nook sets are!

light up the holidays

Hello and happy November! I have my second card for the #135 Inky Paws Challenge sketch today. Link a card up to the challenge here by Friday night for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online store.

I made a bright and shiny Christmas card (my first one of the season!) using the super fun Light String Stencil set. This ended up being a 5 step stencil extravaganza. First I stenciled the light string with green ink. Next I embossed the lights with Ranger Texture Paste, I inked up the lights once the paste was dry and then added some Wink of Stella shimmer to the lights before covering all of them in Glossy Accents. After all of that was done I fussy cut three of the light strands out. I glued them down on a card base with a brick wall background and trimmed off the overhang. I stamped the kitty with the lights from Newton's Holiday Mischief stamp set and colored and fussy cut him out. I added him and a sentiment to a circle, die cut with the Circle Frames die set and added it to the card with foam adhesive. A little Wink of Stella shimmer and glossy accents on the kitty's Christmas lights and i was finished!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween week!

Today is the start of a new Inky Paws Challenge Sketch! Link a card up to the challenge here in the next two weeks for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online store ☺

I used the pretty Spiderweb stencil on some black cardstock with Ranger Texture Paste for my background, then I die cut it with the Frames and Flags scalloped rectangle and a circle from the Circle Frames die set. I splattered it with some white paint and cut a diagonal strip out of the center of the rectangle. I stitched a line with some black thread on my white card base and then added my spiderweb piece with some foam adhesive. I added a stamped and fussy cut  spider from the Spooky Street stamp set to the bottom of my stitched line. I finished everything off with a sentiment from the Batty Newton stamp set

I hope you have a great Halloween! We're planning on skipping regular trick-or-treating, because...pandemic... but we're picking another night this week and my girls will trick or treat at our house. Bree's going to be a dragon and Em's going to be a deer. They'll ring our doorbell and every time we open the door they'll get to say trick or treat to different family/friends on facetime so people will still get to see their costumes. Hopefully it will go smoothly and not be lame!

pick of the patch!

Hi!

I have my second card for Inky Paws Challenge #134 today. This challenge was a color challenge of orange, purple, yellow, and black. You have until Friday night to link a card up to the challenge here for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online store ☺

I used the images and sentiment from the Newton's Boo-tiful Night stamp set, colored with copic markers and then fussy cut. I made my background with the Forest Scene Builder die set, the Land Borders die set, and the Fence die all cut out of black cardstock. I layered everything over a background that I inked up with purple Distress Oxide inks and splattered with white paint to make a starry dusky sky ♥ I finished everything off with the sentiment stamped and embossed with white embossing powder, i'm loving how the bright pumpkins really pop off of those darker background colors ♥

Inky Paws Challenge 134

Hello!

We have a fun color scheme Inky Paws Challenge starting today that's perfect for Halloween cards! Orange, Purple, Yellow, and Black! Link a card up here to the challenge in the next two weeks for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online store ☺

I used the Spooky Roundabout stamp set and I really wanted to fill in a more rectangular area so I stamped it a couple of times, colored all of the images with Copic Markers and then fussy cut all of the itty bitty little images out. (honestly, it gave me something to do with my hands during virtual school lessons) I die cut a piece of white cardstock with the edge of the Frames and Flags scalloped rectangle die and then glued all of my tiny little pieces down on it. I added the sentiment to a black card base with white embossing powder and then added my die cut white piece with foam adhesive. I finished it off with some fun satin bat ribbon along the bottom ☺

more fall happy ♥

Hi!

There's one week left of the autumn themed Inky Paws Challenge! Link a card up to the challenge here by Friday night for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online store ☺

I went with some watercolored tiny leaves for this card. I used the Fall Roundabout stamp set on Bristol Smooth paper and embossed it with a copper embossing powder. I watercolored the leaves and then added some splatters with Distress Ink. I used the Slimline Frames and Window die set and cut the frames out of some wood veneer paper. I used one of the banner dies in the set for my sentiment and stamped the Happy Fall sentiment from the Harvest Tails stamp set. I put everything together with some foam adhesive under the sentiment banner and called it finished ♥

I hope it's starting to feel like Fall where you are! We're getting little tastes of it here and have wholeheartedly leaned into it. We're all decorated for Halloween, we're still blasting the AC so we can bundle up in hoodies and blankets, we stocked up on fall scented candles last weekend, I have crockpot meals lined up for this week's dinners, and today I'm baking pumpkin bars ♥

inky paws challenge 133 fall leaves ♥

 hi!

If you're welcoming fall with open arms like I am this week then this Inky Paws Challenge is for you! It's an autumn themed challenge! Wear all the sweaters! Pumpkin Spice all the things! Burn all the candles! Bake all the pies! (it's still 80 degrees outside so all of this can only happen inside my house where the ac is blasting because Virginia...) Link a card up to the challenge here in the next two weeks for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online store ☺

I used the Falling Leaves stencil on wood veneer paper with Texture Paste and then inked the leaves up with Distress inks before adding some details with Copic Markers, the leaves are so pretty and vibrant! I die cut a tag out of vellum using the Fancy Edges Tag die set and embossed my sentiment from the Fall-ing For You stamp set with white embossing powder. I stitched the bottom of the tag onto the card with my sewing machine and added a pretty twine bow.

This is actually a little backwards for me, we still hang on to summer through the end of September and then we jump into Halloween in my house, I don't get to decorate with all of my pretty fall stuff until everyone goes to sleep on October 31 ♥

inky paws challenge 132 happiness is a good book

 hi!

I have my second card for the Inky Paws Challenge #132 sketch today! Doesn't this card just look cozy?! I stamped my images from the Sips and Stories stamp set on a stitched rectangle I die cut from the Frames and Flags die set. I masked the images off to ink up the floor and then colored everything in with Copic markers. I stenciled my background with the Houndstooth stencil and I loved the color so much I just couldn't add any ink to it ♥

miss your face ♥

 hi!

This one is super clean and simple because i didn't want to distract too much from that gorgeous stamp! I love her ♥ and I love that whenever i color a cute looking chick with a brunette messy bun my daughter says it looks like me ☺

We're heading out for a week's vacation at a beach house today and Bree asked if i was bringing cardmaking stuff and i said there wasn't room in the car. She said i should totally bring it with us because it makes me happy and that she could hold it on her lap in the car, then she ran to her room and brought me a paper chickfila bag (that she had colored as a hand puppet) and told me i could put my cardmaking stuff in there and she would hold it for me 😂 I think if i pack any cardmaking stuff it might take a smidge more space than the paper bag 😏

happy (almost) fall!

 hi!

I love this little fall scene, although i kept the leaves and the background as one layer, and i definitely had regrets about my leaf masking choices when i was trying to ink up my background and the masks kept wiggling off!

Come on fall! bring on the chilly temperatures (ha! it usually doesn't even get cold enough for a hoodie until late November here), the colorful leaves, and pumpkin everything!
