Inky Paws Challenge 98

Aloha!

(sorry not sorry about all of the tropical cards, my parents are in Hawaii right now for a vacation and I have palm trees on the brain ♥)

Today is the start of a new Inky Paws Sketch Challenge! We have a great sketch for you so join us and link up a card to the challenge for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online store ☺

I used my absolute favorite stencil, (Newton's Nook Designs Tropical Leaves Stencil) for a masked strip of stenciled background. As usual, after I finished my stenciling I didn't want to cover it up so I used a patterned vellum for my next layer ☺I used the Aloha Newton stamp set for my image, with lots of fussy cutting (this card is so on-brand for me!) I did some messy machine stitching at the bottom of the tag and added an embossed sentiment on black cardstock under my image to finish everything off ♥

I won't post any spoilers but can we all agree that the finale of Game of Thrones last night was awful? (just the writing, the acting and cinematography were fantastic!) boo.
On the bright side, at least I won't be as sleepy on Monday mornings anymore ☺

Have a lovely day!

Inky Paws Challenge 96

Hello and happy Monday!

Today is the start of a new Inky Paws Challenge and the week after spring break! This challenge is to use colored pencils on a project so I got out my Prismacolor Pencils and got to work ♥

I used the Newton's Nook Designs Bokeh Stencil set and colored over it with some pencils. I used the Fancy Edges Tag Die set to cut two tags out of vellum. I stamped the sentiment on one of them with Versafine ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I stitched the two tags together with some sequins and glitter inside to add a fun shaker element. I finished the whole thing off with some baker's twine :)

Spring break is over and now it feels like we're in a sprint towards the end of the school year. My kids kind of lost their minds about halfway through spring break which makes me slightly concerned about how summer will go, I will apparently need to implement more of a schedule and clear expectations than what we had this last week if we're going to survive a whole summer 😳

Inky Paws Challenge 95 part 2

hi!

I've got rainbows, unicorns, and glitter today! What can I say, I was a Lisa Frank kid!
This is my second post for the Inky Paws Challenge 95 sketch. Link up a card to the challenge for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online store ♥

I started out by inking the Newton's Nook Designs Bokeh Stencil set with Distress Oxide inks in two different rainbow color schemes. I mixed some glitter with multi-medium matte to stencil over one of the sets of stenciled polka dots for a pretty glittery rainbow paste effect. I stamped, colored, and cut out my unicorns and added some wink of stella shimmer to their tails, manes, and horns. I also sprayed some shimmer mist on the strip of black cardstock inlaid into the bokeh background, this card is so shiny! ♥
I finished everything off with a vellum tag with the sentiment stamped and embossed on it.

Remember to link up a card by Friday night to the challenge for a chance to win!

This week is my daughter's spring break and my parents are visiting all week! (my dad just got back from a deployment so we haven't seen him in over a year!)

Inky Paws Challenge 95

Hello!

it's a new Monday and the beginning of a new Inky Paws Challenge! We have a great sketch for you for this challenge so get crafty and link up a card to the challenge for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs Online Store!

I decided to have some fun with the Newton's Nook Designs Bold Blooms Stencil for this card, it's such a great card for spring!

I stenciled the flowers with Ranger Texture Paste and then after it was dry I colored over the paste with Copic markers (I was super hesitant about this, I didn't want to have to replace all of my marker nibs, but I kept a light hand with the coloring and didn't notice any damage to the markers)
I stamped the sentiment from the Newton's Nook Designs April Showers stamp set on a die cut tag. I wrapped the tag with some twine and layered it on top of some striped vellum on the card. Pretty simple and flat but the flowers really pack a punch!

Have a lovely day!

challenge 94 part two

Hello! Happy Monday and happy April!

I have a bright and pretty card to share today for Inky Paws Challenge 94, you still have until the end of this week to join us for this challenge :)

It's a color challenge with white, pink, baby blue, and mint and I used the Newton's Nook Designs Loads of Blooms stamp set to make a fun dimensional layered bouquet of pretty pink tulips.

I stamped and colored the girl and her flowers 4 times to get all of those layers and did lots of fussy cutting. I used a piece of white woodgrain cardstock for my background and splattered it with some watered down Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide. The sentiment is stamped on a die cut doily that i stitched onto my card base. I glued the girl down and then assembled all of the layers of her flowers with foam tape to finish everything off ♥

We have a new Inky Paws Challenge today that's just perfect for the beginning of spring! It's a color challenge with mint green, blue, pink, and white ♥

I decided to use the adorable Newton's Nook Designs Woodland Spring stamp set for some no-line coloring for the focal point of this card.

I just about killed my eyes with those light colors and the no-line coloring but it turned out so pretty!
I masked off the circle before I did my stenciling and i added a die cut piece of patterned vellum to anchor everything together. I am super happy with how this turned out ♥

inky paws challenge 93 part 2

Hello!

I have another card for Inky Paws Challenge 93 today :)

I just love hiding easter eggs in the layers of grass in a box card ♥

The challenge is "think spring" and you have until Friday night to join us and link up a card to the challenge for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online store!

This one is pretty straight forward, with a lot of coloring and fussy cutting :)
I stamped all of my images on Neenah solar white cardstock with black memento ink and colored them with copic markers before fussy cutting them out. I die cut all of the pieces for my box card out of green cardstock (and the blue piece for my sky). I inked up the bottom of the card exterior with Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink and splattered it with water to give it some interest and texture. I also inked the stitched rectangle for my sentiment. I assembled everything, added some die cut clouds, and an embossed sentiment.

We have a nice quiet week planned here, which means plenty of time for me to spend in the studio! I'm making awesome progress on this year's project life album, although i have to clear it off of my desk and make time for cards too!

inky paws challenge 93

hi!

There's a brand new Inky Paws Challenge starting today, Think Spring!  I decided to go with hydrangeas for my card, i know they're kind of a summer flower, but my wedding flowers were hydrangeas and i planted a hydrangea bush at our new house after our wedding and when that bush got new growth and leaves on it was really the beginning of spring to me ♥
I still haven't planted one at our new house but since my mom bought our old house i still get to take care of my old hydrangea bush :)

As usual, play along and link up a card to the challenge for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online store :)

challenge 92 part 2 (easter)

hi!

I've got another card for Inky Paws Challenge 92 and a reminder to go make a card and link it up to the challenge! You have the rest of the week to join us!

I went with an Easter card using the sweet Newton's Easter Basket stamp set ♥

I cut a panel of blue cardstock and die cut my clouds from it to leave a fun negative cloud image and cut some grassy strips of green cardstock using the Newton's Nook Designs Land Borders die. I splattered some Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide over a white card base to give it a fun Easter candy speckled egg look for my background and then layered my sky and grass over it with some foam adhesive. I stamped my image on neenah solar white cardstock with memento ink and colored it with copics before fussy cutting it out and adding it to the card. I used the Newton's Nook Frames and Flag die set to cut my little banner and added the sentiment to it with versamark ink and white embossing powder. I finished everything off with a little bit of baker's twine before adding the sentiment banner to finish the card!

I have a nice little stash of Easter cards that i've made, but.... i don't actually send Easter cards. Anyone else make cards because they're fun to make and then realize that you don't use cards for that occasion?

Anyways, link up your card to the challenge here for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online store!

challenge 92 bee cause

Hi! I have a super sweet honey bee card today based off of the new sketch for Inky Paws Challenge 92! Link up your card to the challenge for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online store :)

I made a super pretty gradient ink blended stripe down my card base for the bottom layer of the sketch and then I die cut some wood veneer with the hexagons die, I added a little ink to the wood veneer because it ended up being too similar a shade to my bear and I wanted more contrast between them. I colored all of the images with copics and fussy cut them out and layered them with an embossed sentiment strip :)

I'm kind of crazy about honey bee stamps so I was happy to finally ink this set up ♥

Have a lovely day!

This challenge is a color challenge with black, gray, white, and pink and you have until Friday night to link up a card for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs Online Store!

I started off with the Tree Rings Stencil on some Rustic White cardstock, I mixed a smidge of black watercolor paint with my texture paste to get that pretty gray color. I stamped my images from the Newton's Nook Peony Blooms stamp set with Memento Ink on Neenah cardstock and colored them with copics and fussy cut them out. I stamped my sentiment from the Newton's Nook Simply Sentimental stamp set on black cardstock with Versamark ink and embossed it with white embossing powder before fussy cutting that out. I splattered a little bit of watered down Distress oxide over my background and then glued all of my pieces down on top of the tree rings!

We're in the middle of an extra holiday weekend, Bree's school was out for parent teacher conferences on Friday (which we didn't have to go to since we just had an IEP meeting) and then today school is closed for President's Day so we got to head out of town this weekend and see some friends down in North Carolina!

inky paws challenge #91 le meow!

Hello!

There's a brand new Inky Paws Challenge starting today, and this challenge is full of some super fun colors: white, gray, black, and coral! Link up your card to the challenge for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs Online Store!

I know I say this a lot but I kind of love this card 😍

I started off by doing some ink blending on the background with the Tumbling Hearts Stencil and Tattered Rose Distress Oxide Ink. Then I mixed some Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide with water to splatter it over my background. I stamped the Eiffel Tower and the kitty in the balloon directly on the background and then added my gray rolling hills that I die cut with the Newton's Nook Land Borders die. I stamped my sentiment in Coral Ink and then stamped, colored, and cut out my images on Neenah Solar White cardstock with Memento Ink and Copic Markers.

I'm hard at work on my daughter's valentines for her class exchange on Thursday, we went with a rainbow unicorn theme and they are so stinkin' cute! I'm waiting on one more candy to be delivered today before I can tie off all of the bags and then I'll photograph them and share them ♥

inky paws challenge 90

hi!

It's time for a new Inky Paws Challenge! This week we have a love/valentines theme challenge and I decided to use the Toucan Party Stamp set with some stenciling on a clear card.

The tags are adhered to the front and back of both sides of the card so there isn't any ugly adhesive visible, and there's a place to write in the card that won't show when the card is closed! I stenciled the Tropical Leaves on the clear card base with Ranger Texture Paste and then inked it up with Distress Oxides when it was dry. I stamped my Toucans on a tag die cut with the Newton's Nook Designs Fancy Edges Tag Die and colored them with Copics. I added some sentiments and baker's twine and it was done!

I'm starting to feel better! The only times I left the house last week was for a trip to the doctor's office, a quick grocery store visit, and one night of takeout, other than that I was stuck at home for 11 days with this plague 😳

I've got my meal planning done and I'm going out for a big grocery trip today, so wish me luck!
