Mermazing Kitties

Hi!

I've got another card for the Beach/Summer Theme card challenge for Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenges today!
I made a shaker card using the new Newton kitty mermaids and I kind of love it ♥
No underwater shaker card is ever complete (in my mind) without sand and tiny seashells! (also, I have a bit of a habit of sneaking Nemo and Dory into every ocean scene I make with fish!)

There's still a week left to play along with this challenge for the chance to win $20 in store credit to the Newton's Nook online store (which would be really handy to win since it's a release week!)

Have a fantastic day!

Inky Paws Challenge #78

Hello and happy Monday!

Today's the start of a super fun new summer or beach themed challenge for the Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge Blog!
I'm really happy with how this card turned out ♥

I used Ranger Texture Paste and the Newton's Nook Designs Seashells Stencil on a clear cardbase and then inked up all of my seashells with Distress Oxide inks and a bunch of masking.

I used the Newton's Nook frames and flag die set to make the scalloped card inside and I ink blended an ombre background with the Newton's Nook Waves stencil. After I inked up all of my seashells and bubbles I added some fun accents with Nuvo Crystal Drops, Wink of Stella shimmer pen, and Glossy Accents. I finished off the card by stamping my sentiment from the Newton's Nook Tranquil Tides Stamp set on a die cut flag and wrapping some twine around it ♥

I've been working so hard on catching up on picture printing for my project life albums lately. I was super behind and I decided to print them all before I get back to decorating any, I'm so close to being caught up now! I started in April (i think?) and I've printed 5 full albums, I'm mostly done with 6 (just two months to print) and then I have only one album left!!! (and two December Daily albums, but those can wait a little bit longer...) The album I'm currently printing is last year's (2017) and it's insane to see how much the girls have grown in the last year, especially Emma!

Anyways, please come check out all of the fun inspiration for this challenge at the Inky Paws Challenge Blog and play along with us!
have a lovely week!

Inky Paws Challenge #77 aloha!

Good morning and happy Monday!

I've got a tropical card this morning to kick off a new Inky Paws Challenge! We've got a sketch challenge full of fun layers (although my background took so much work that I cheated a bit with my layers and just framed them off with twine so I wouldn't have to cover up my yummy leaves!)

I stenciled the Tropical Leaves stencil with Texture Paste on a kraft card base and then after it dried I put the stencil back and masked off each little leaf one at a time to blend the pink, blue and purple distress oxide inks but i love love love how it turned out! Stencils are my new BFF ♥
also, how adorable is that Newton stamp!?

Anyways, come play along with us for the sketch challenge and I'll be back tomorrow with something fun to share!

Have a lovely day!

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge 33 Card

Hi!

I've got a really fun card today to share for the current Lawn Fawnatics Challenge. The challenge was to use "fun folds" so i made a ... I guess you'd call it a Z - fold card? ... with a bit of a stair step to it and filled it with some fairy fun!

Whenever I have an image where the back is going to be visible, (on a pop up card like this or on a clear card...) I always try to make sure the back is tidy too, so I stamped all of my images with a mirror image stamp so i could color both of them and then glue them back to back wherever they stuck up on my card.

I'm off to DC this weekend to see Hamilton at the Kennedy Center!!!! 😍😍😍😍

I'll be back on Monday with a card to kick off the next Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge! Have a fantastic weekend!

running shoe!

hi!

I've got a card I made for my dad to share today!

We're both runners and we ran a full marathon (26.2 miles!) together this January so I thought this stamp set was perfect to use for him!

I really wanted a subtle monochromatic splatter on my gray cardstock so I inked it up with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink and then splattered it with water and it turned out perfectly!

I have a bunch of Christmas cards I never shared last Christmas, should I blog them now for some Christmas in July posts or should I save them for later this year?

also, I tried out a photo with "props" with my running shoes and medals, I like it sometimes when other bloggers use props but i feel kind of ridiculous with them, thoughts?

supplies:
Papertrey Ink Heart & Sole stamp set and dies, Papertrey Ink Mix & Mat: Herringbone die set, Papertrey Ink cardstock in: Tropical Teal, Soft Stone, and Smokey Shadow; Bristol Smooth Watercolor Paper, Distress Oxide ink in: Black Soot, Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, and Seedless Preserves; Altenew Ink in Sapphire and Lagoon; Versamark Ink, and Hero Arts White Embossing Powder

tea party

hi!

This is a crazy photo heavy post so you might want to grab a drink! (tea would be very appropriate 😏)

I hosted a tea party this last Saturday to celebrate my mom's 65th birthday and it was so pretty!
I made invitations with some stamps from Papertrey Ink (Sweet Life, Tea for Two, Turning a New Leaf, and Embroidered Blooms), Photoshop for the text, and some Rose Gold Foil and my Minc Machine!

I used the same stuff to make a double sided menu for each place setting. All of this was made so much easier by using my MISTI (and it would have been made even easier if I had owned the die set for the sweet life instead of having to cut all of the roses out by hand!)

I decided to stick with all of the same images for a matching birthday card and I also snuck in the Pretty Brackets Mix and Mat Die, some linen cardstock for a bit of texture, and I used the Birthday Strings stamp set for the sentiment

and now, on to the party!

It was super fun, everything was delicious, and the birthday girl really enjoyed it so I'm calling it a super win!

Thanks for stopping by!

Newtons Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge 76 reminder

Hi!
I'm popping in this morning with another card for the Inky Paws Challenge #76, you still have a week to play along with this fun color combo!

I went with a bit of a folk art vibe for this card (totally made do-able with the MISTI, hooray for symmetry!)

When I'm making something like this that uses a bunch of stamping with the MISTI and not a ton of coloring I almost always make multiples so I actually made 4 of this card at the same time! I find it easiest to have one template piece that I draw centering lines on to help me line things up before I stamp on my final pieces. I used dots, florals, hearts, and the wreath stamp from three different sets to make this design, I used the Newton's Nook Designs Tranquil Tides Stamp Set, Newton's Nook Designs Cottage Garden Stamp Set, and Newton's Nook Designs Happy Little Thoughts Stamp Set and then i finisehd everything off with some Crystal drops and baker's twine.

I had such a fun but exhausting weekend. I hosted a tea party to celebrate my mom's 65th birthday on Saturday and I'm still a little sleepy and yet also somehow super hopped up on sugar. I'll have pictures of the invitations, the card i made for her, the menus, and pictures of the actual party to share tomorrow, everything was pretty much perfect (which it darn well should have been after the weeks of planning and prep!)

Anyways, go play along with the challenge and make sure to stop by tomorrow for some tea party pictures!

Newtons Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge 76

Hello and happy Monday friends!
There's a new color challenge up on the Newton's Nook Inky Paws Challenge Blog (where I just happen to be a member of the new inspiration team!!! sorry, still excited!)
The color challenge has lovely summery shades of melon red and green with white and black. I decided to see how many shades of that melon-y red I could coax out of my Copic markers and prismacolor pencils to color in the Blooming Botanicals Stamp Set.

I stamped my image on Neenah Solar White Cardstock in Black Memento ink and then colored (and colored and colored....) everything in with Copic Markers and added extra detail with my Prismacolor Pencils. I stamped my sentiment from the Uplifting Wishes Stamp Set in Versamark on top of my flowers and embossed  it with white embossing powder. I hand cut the edges of the flower panel just to make the card a little interesting but the detail kind of got lost with the white edges on a white card so I backed the front of the card with black cardstock and trimmed again so it has a tiny little black border. I finished everything off with some tiny drops of Crystal Nuvo Drops in the flower centers!

You have two weeks to play along with this challenge to win a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online shop! Definitely take a few minutes to hop over to the Inky Paws Challenge blog to see the other lovely cards the rest of the inspiration team made for this challenge and i'll have another inspiration post for this challenge on next Monday!

Christmas in July and an announcement!

Hi!

I got a super surprise in my email last month so it definitely feels like Christmas in July around here. I was invited to join the Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge Inspiration Team! (whew, that's a mouthful!) My first post will go up with the new challenge on Monday and I'm so excited!

look! it's me! 😎

I'm thrilled to be joining such a lovely and talented group of ladies and getting inky with my Newton's Nook Designs products (and this gave me a great excuse for a huge shopping spree for more stamps, dies, and stencils!)

I decided to go with the Christmas in July theme for a card to share today to celebrate my fun announcement :)

I used the Sun Soaked Christmas and the Festive Flamingos stamp sets (and a mirror stamp to flip my flamingo holding the wreath) to create this fun beach scene for Santa!

I stamped my Santa and the two grouped flamingos on a piece of Neenah Solar White Cardstock and then I stamped the wreath flamingo on a mirror stamp and then stamped that on my card front with the mirror stamp so she'd be facing the right way (I totally added the eyelashes to my two lady flamingos because I thought their eyes looked a little sad and flamingos certainly can't be sad when they're hanging out with Santa...)

I colored everything in with Copic Markers and then masked the images off so I could make my background. I free handed a shore line with masking paper and cut it out. I masked off the water first so I could make the sandy beach. I used an ink blending tool with antique linen distress oxide to make my beach and then i flicked some frayed burlap distress oxide mixed with water over the antique linen to finish off the sand. I switched my mask to the sand and blended Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, and Faded Jeans to make the water. I removed my mask and lightly blended salty ocean over the beach line to soften the water line. (I started doing beaches like this about a month or so ago and I love how they turn out every time!) To finish off my beach I took some white paint and mixed it with a little water to make the crests of my waves/sea foam and then I splattered a little bit over all of the water!

To finish the card I added some sharpie lines to hook the birds to the inner tube, some dimensional accents to the hats and the birds, and the sentiment in black ink!

I'm up to my eyeballs in prep for my mom's birthday party next week right now. She's turning 65 and I'm throwing a tea party for her so I'll be cooking up some tea sandwiches and cake recipes to taste test this weekend and making a ton of huge flowers for decorations! I'll be back on Monday with my first Inky Paws Challenge post!

Have a great weekend!

stained glass flowers

Hi!

I have a pretty floral card today using the Altenew Recollections stamp set and it turned out so pretty!
I stamped the floral arch on vellum in versamark ink and then embossed it with white embossing powder and I colored the backside of the vellum with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens and it looks like pretty stained glass! (it looks even prettier when you hold it up to the light, I almost just wanted to tape it to my window and not even put it on a card!)

Make it Monday #312

Hi there!

I have a card for this week's Make It Monday challenge today. The challenge this week was to frame a sentiment and I decided it was well past time to finally use my Cloche Quarters stamps and I love love love them!

I used one of the bunnies and the grass border from the Simply Spring Borders set with my eggs and daffodils from the cloche quarters: spring fillers set to make my sweet little Easter arrangement and I think it turned out so cute! The centers of the daffodils show up a bit better in person, they look kind of washed out in the picture.

I'm so looking forward to this next week going by because we get to go back to Disney World next Friday night! It's one of my favorite times of year to go because the Flower and Garden festival at Epcot is so pretty and I'm longing for Spring. We've had a few daffodils open up here at home but that's it for new spring growth so far!

supplies:
Stamps: Papertrey Ink Cloche Quarters, Papertrey Ink Cloche Quarters: Spring Fillers, Papertrey Ink Simply Spring Borders, Papertrey Ink Background Basics: Farm & Barn
