Make it Monday #312

Hi there!

I have a card for this week's Make It Monday challenge today. The challenge this week was to frame a sentiment and I decided it was well past time to finally use my Cloche Quarters stamps and I love love love them!

I used one of the bunnies and the grass border from the Simply Spring Borders set with my eggs and daffodils from the cloche quarters: spring fillers set to make my sweet little Easter arrangement and I think it turned out so cute! The centers of the daffodils show up a bit better in person, they look kind of washed out in the picture.

I'm so looking forward to this next week going by because we get to go back to Disney World next Friday night! It's one of my favorite times of year to go because the Flower and Garden festival at Epcot is so pretty and I'm longing for Spring. We've had a few daffodils open up here at home but that's it for new spring growth so far!

bicycle built for two

Hi!

I have another bright card today in celebration of this Spring weather we've got going on today 😍

That's me and Jeff! (even though me dressing in a purple polka dot dress and hopping on the back of a bicycle doesn't seem remotely likely in this lifetime) I'm super excited about how his hair turned out, I'm calling this my best attempt yet at coloring black hair!

It was warm enough today that Emma and I got to go to the zoo. without any jackets!

Jeff and I had entertained the idea of not taking the stroller with us when we go to Disney World at the end of next week but one hour at the zoo with Emma and no stroller definitely made me reconsider that idea. She just wants to sit down in the middle of the sidewalk all the time. She doesn't want to walk, doesn't want to be carried, she just wants to sit. So she can sit in the stroller and we'll just pack less stuff so it can all fit in the car :)

hello sunshine!

Hi!

I have a card today that's been in progress for months! I colored and cut out this hello two 30 day coloring challenges ago and then put it aside and it's been staring at me every time i walk in my studio so I'm happy to finally have it on a card and put away :)

My green turned out too yellowish  but other than that I think it's a fun rainbow blend. I really like substituting pink for red and teal for blue sometimes in my rainbows ♥

I'm deep in my happy place of spring deep cleaning and organizing/purging right now. The only problem with that is that I'm already a pretty organized person so I really have to look for spaces to clean out and organize. Yesterday I went through all of Bree and Em's clothes, sold some of them, donated others, and then packed up anything that Em will eventually wear. Then I went through my charger cords bin, my files, washi tapes and sewing drawer. I could go through the cabinet in the bathroom and a shelf in the garage, and then I think I'm kind of out of places to organize. sigh.

🤢

Bree had a nasty stomach bug this weekend and now I have it (of course). I’ve been sick for every single holiday since Halloween 😭
Anyways, I just wanted to say that I should be back next week. Happy Valentine’s Day!

loving heart

Hi!

I'm apparently on a floral kick right now! Today I have a card for the #90 Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge, the theme was love/hearts and I already had this stamp set out on my desk to use so I decided to make a heart out of flowers. ♥

I did so much masking on this sucker because I thought I wanted it to be one layer but then I decided it was boring so I ended up coloring and cutting out some extra flowers to pop up for dimension (so much cutting!).

peekaboo valentine

Hi!

I have a pretty but simple one layer valentine today with a fun little window into the inside!

I started off by making a card that opens in the middle by scoring a piece of kraft cardstock, cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 at 2 1/8 and 6 3/8. Next I used the floral heart die and die cut the heart out of each side of the front of the card. I used my MISTI to stamp the image in the window (The first time I tried this I stamped first and then tried to cut and it didn't end up lining up as well) I colored the pretty florals with color pencils and added some white Nuvo Crystal drops on the berries and then stamped and embossed the sentiment in the middle of the heart. The outside felt a little plain so I had to tape everything the front of the card in place and mask off the floral frame to stamp the wood pallet background to finish everything off.

pretty flowers

Hi!

I have to say, this card took fussy cutting to an extreme place even for me but I kind of love how it turned out!

I stamped the floral bouquet on a piece of Neenah cardstock and colored everything with Copics and then added some more details and shading with color pencils (I can't color a decent rose, I don't know what it is about that flower that stumps me but boo to roses.) Next I fussy cut out the top of the image (The cutting seriously took me longer than the coloring did. so. much. cutting.) I added the sentiment in the bottom corner and then cut up my foam tape in itty bitty pieces so I could pop up all of those flowers and leaves. I stamped my background in Espresso Ink on a dark brown cardstock (I've loving that wood pallet background ♥) and then adhered everything together and finished it off with some white nuvo drops.

Nothing super exciting is going on here, trying to figure out valentines for Bree's classmates (do i buy them or make them? stickers or candy?) and her teachers (i'm thinking the apple shaped pack of lindt truffles in the valentines section for her teachers with a nice card.) I don't like not really knowing what to expect, I don't know if the class has any other crafty parents so I don't know if other kids will make them or buy them. I'm kind of leaning towards just buying them, it's an early start/preschool class so they're a little young to care about homemade vs store bought.
anyways, have a great day!

Make it Monday #311

Hello!
It's been ages since I made something for a Papertrey Ink Make it Monday challenge but I really wanted to color these tulips for the 30 day coloring challenge and I decided to make it work for this week's Make it Monday Challenge too :)

I didn't have a ton of "other papers" to choose from, I used to have a couple books for ripping up, but I'm guessing they didn't make the cut last summer when we moved because I couldn't find them anywhere, so I used a coffee sleeve and a paper doily for my different papers. I stamped the jar and flowers with black memento ink on Neenah solar white cardstock and colored them with Copics (there are about 10 shades of pink on those flowers!) and fussy cut them out. I die cut the coffee sleeve with the Mix & Mat Pretty Brackets and then layered that, the doily, and the flower jar together. I stamped my background on Rustic Cream Cardstock and assembled everything. I finished it all off with some twine and a stamped sentiment before I adhered it to a Kraft Card base.

I'm deeply in the middle of fighting a losing battle with Bree's hair. She has really fine, kind of thin hair and she has a chunk of it that will. not. stay. out. of. her. face. It drives me crazy, she won't wear hair clips or headbands for long so I've been trying extreme hairstyles since she started school with the hope that at least one of them will keep that chunk of hair out of her face for the whole school day. no such luck. I've french braided pig tails, I've done two french higher french braids that meet the rest of her hair in the back for a pony tail, Today I did a french braid little crown but by the time we walked in to her classroom it was already coming out. I really don't want to cut her hair, It took a long time to come in and it's still not long or thick but it's maddening. 😏

Let's Be Mermaids

Hello!

I've got my favorite kind of shaker card today, one with a mermaid and sand and shells! ♥

This was the first time I got around to inking this adorable mermaid and her background up and I love it so much! I stamped her and her background on Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored her, the seaweed, and the sand with Copic markers.

Next I masked her and the sand and seaweed off with some detailed fussy cutting to make the ocean background with distress inks and ink blending.

Then I splattered some water over the background to make the bubbly effect and peeled off the masking paper!
I added some wink of stella shimmer to her tail and die cut her with a large circle die.
I die cut my card base and my clear cardstock out of the large circle die and then used it and a smaller die to make my frame and my foam pieces to assemble the shaker. I stamped the sentiment in StazOn ink on the clear cardstock and then assembled all of the layers together with some sand, shells, and iridescent heart sequins for the filler. So much fun! (as usual I over-filled and had to rip it all apart to take out 2/3 of my sand and stuff and then reassemble 😐)

I fell a little behind in my schedule last night from watching the SOTU (😝) so I'm just listing the supplies instead of linking them up today!

Have a great day!

case of the blues

Hello!

I've got a super bright and flowery card today!

so much fussy cutting! Unfortunately I decided to fussy cut everything out after I had added the wink of stella shimmer to the Hello so when I was holding it to cut it all out I transferred some of the shimmer to the flowers. boo. Other than that I'm really happy with how this one turned out!

Fairy Sweet!

Hello!
I have a card for the Lawn Fanatics Challenge 21 today with some sweet fairies and cupcakes!

I colored so many pieces for this card and then I tried to make them all fit in a box card, it didn't work well, and then I ripped them out of the box card to make this but only a few images made the cut so the rest are tucked away with the stamp set for a future card. (I rarely feel like I need to rip a card apart but when I do, I never regret it. It always turns out better!) This one is pretty simple, the fairy sprinkling the hearts was popped up on acetate for the box card and I left her like that and popped her up with some foam adhesive for some fun dimension and I'm loving the way the hearts are just floating over the card ♥

We survived Bree's first week of school and we're going strong heading into her second week! She's loving it, the biggest challenge right now is the whole toilet training thing. It's not going well, she won't even sit on a toilet at school and while I can get her to sit on one at home once or twice a day, she hasn't successfully used a toilet in months. It's super frustrating because we were there last October. She would use toilets, even unfamiliar ones at stores, and she sometimes could even tell me when she had to go. Now she just doesn't care, I feel like I've tried everything but she just doesn't care if she's wet and she has no desire to use the toilet. I have no new ideas, the therapists we've worked with don't have any, her teachers don't have any. She's 4 and a half and I was so hoping that seeing the other kids at school use the bathroom would make her interested again but one week in and no such luck. 😭

Do you wanna build a snowman?

Hi!

I made a fun Elsa clear card today with the Little Darling Winter stamp set from Your Next Stamp (that I've had since summer and just now finally got around to inking up)

I stamped Elsa and colored her and then did some partial die cutting and fussy cutting to make the hill she's standing on one layer. I masked her off to make her hill sparkly with the shimmer spritz and then die cut 3 more hills to layer together on the front and back of the card. Pretty simple but super cute and sparkly!

I miss Bree like crazy during the day while she's at school but I'm loving that I get to stamp during Emma's nap time now! I haven't been able to stamp during the day since Bree stopped napping about 2 years ago! (She takes a nap at school and i think it's her favorite part of the day...)

Hi!

time for school!

Hello and happy Monday! I have a school themed card today because my baby started school today! (cue the mama ugly crying.)

I just loved the images in this set and I thought it would be really fun to turn them into balloons! so I added the little triangles at the bottom, colored and fussy cut them out, and then covered them in glossy accents to make them nice and shiny. When using balloons on cards I will always go for the real string option if it's available. It just makes it so much more fun 😊

Bree did really well this morning. We had to sit in a conference room for about a half hour while we went over her IEP (individual education plan) and while I filled out all of the registration paperwork and then we went straight to her classroom and I left her there with no tears (on her end...I did manage to hang on until I made it to the car but then I definitely cried the whole way home.) I get to pick her up in about an hour and I'm so excited to find out how her day went!

Yeti ♥

Hi!

Happy Friday! Here's my second Yeti love card!

I was kind of bummed that I didn't get around to stamping the yeti during the frenzy of Christmas cards so I'm happy that I found a non Christmas use for him. I started off by stamping my yeti and mountains and banner on Neenah Solar White cardstock and coloring the mountains and yeti with Copic markers before cutting them out with their matching dies. I inked up my background with Distress Oxide inks (eek! did you see the new colors they're releasing?! I'm so excited!) and spritzed some water on it. I die cut my background with the scalloped rectangle from the Basic Set and then cut another scalloped rectangle out of white cardstock. I cut two hills out of the white piece with the stitched hills dies and then die cut my hearts out of felt with the mini hearts die set (i'd say those hearts are one of my top 5 most used dies. love them) I stamped my sentiment on the bottom hill by using a piece of washi tape to selectively ink the yeti sentiment and then added the other sentiment under it from the occasional labels set. I glued everything down, adding foam tape to the bottom hill for a little dimension, and added it to a white card base to finish it off.

The girls and I stayed hunkered down inside all day yesterday with the exception of Bree's hour and a half of romping around in the snow in the backyard. I imagine we'll probably stay inside again today as anything that melted yesterday refroze overnight and I'm not a fan of icy roads at all, but i'm definitely not a fan of sharing those icy roads with some of the maniacs that drive around here. The girls and I have been drinking our weight in hot tea and hot chocolate and baking cookies, well, I bake, Bree runs around in circles singing about cookies and Emma screams at me for not picking her up. It's been a long week 😵😜

Bright Lights Bigger Cacti

Hi!

I have another card for the coloring challenge today.

Nothing too fancy today. I stamped everything with a little bit of masking, inked my landscape with different layers of masking paper and brown inks. I colored everything with Copics, adding wink of stella and glossy accents to the light bulbs. I did add some fun details to the cacti and pots with my colorless blender and white gel pen and then stamped the sentiment in black ink and Parrot ink.

We're getting a whopping 1 to 3 inches of snow today so everything's shut down including the schools so I will not be registering Bree today 😏

sparkly rainbow unicorns ♥

Hi!

This card indulges my inner Lisa Frank loving 90s kid 😏

I started off by stamping my unicorn in Versafine ink on some Bristol smooth paper. I masked it off to stamp my crystals and selectively inked them so only the crystals stamped, not the sparkles around them. I colored everything with Zig Clean Color watercolor markers and added lots of Wink of Stella shimmer to the crystals and the unicorn's hair and horn. I used glossy accents on the crystals and horn too. It's so shiny and shimmery! 😍I stamped the banner again and added the sentiment and fussy cut it out and then glued it down on top of the other banner with foam tape. I fussy cut the top off of that piece of paper and set it aside to make my background. I die cut the polygon cover plate from masking paper and stuck the mask to another piece of the Bristol paper. I used post its to mask off each section and inked them with Altenew Silver Stone ink and an ink blending tool, blending up from the bottom of each section. I added a piece of baker's twine to the unicorn piece and adhered it to the background with foam adhesive. I taped everything down to a piece of Hibiscus Burst cardstock on a card base and finished everything off with some Like Magic Sequins.

It's been so cold here! I loathe running in the cold but now that my feet have healed from my marathon i'm itching to get out and run! It doesn't help that I have to run in the dark while Jeff is still at home while the girls sleep. They do not enjoy sitting in the stroller while I run and seem determined to loudly share their feelings with everyone in a 5 mile radius. I signed up for a challenge to run 2018 miles this year and so far I have a whopping 26.2 done which puts me behind about 52 miles already 😳

Bubbles!

Hello and happy (belated) new year!
I'm back from vacation and settled back in at home and a new 30 day coloring challenge starts today!
I decided to start off with one of my previously unused Stamping Bella stamps.

This one was pretty simple, the biggest difficulty I have with the big stamping bella stamps is what to do with the rest of the card! I stamped her in Memento black ink and colored her with Copics and added some wink of stella shimmer to all of the bubbles and some glossy accents to her champagne glass. I fussy cut out around the bottom of the panel and tub and die cut the rest out of the Lawn Fawn inside out stitched scalloped rectangle. I stamped a gray panel with my wood pallet background in Altenew Limestone ink and die cut that out of the scalloped rectangle as well. I stamped my sentiment beside the tub and then added the bathtub piece to the gray rectangle with some foam adhesive and called it done!

Eek! I feel like I have so much to tell you! I finished a marathon! I survived 3 weeks at Disney World with my two children! I drove home all by myself with the girls the day after my marathon! I used a  Christmas and Birthday gift card and bought a new die cutting machine (the Gemini Junior) and it cuts like a dream! I turned 32! I'll be registering Bree for school tomorrow! But today is the Monday of a three day weekend and I have to go make waffles so we'll chat more later 😘

Have a great day and try and get some coloring in!
