taste the rainbow!

Hello and happy Friday!
I've got a fun and colorful shaker card to share today!

I love the little sprinkles as gumballs! I started off by die cutting my scalloped card base one and a half times (once for the whole card, and then I cut just one of the panels to be my card front) out of Neenah cardstock. On the card front panel I stamped my gumball machine and then masked off a little strip underneath it to do my rainbow ink blending. I blended my rainbow with Distress inks and then removed the masking paper and colored the gumball machine. I cut out the center of the machine with scissors and adhered clear cardstock to the back of it. I stamped my banner and sentiment in Versamark ink on vellum and embossed it with white embossing powder. (that sentiment just barely fit but isn't it great?!) I die cut the banner and adhered it down to the card front with tiny glue dots behind the words. I colored behind where my shaker window would be on the card base with a light blue copic marker and then assembled my shaker! I cut a square piece of foam, a little smaller than my card and die cut a circle from it where my window would show through. Then I adhered it to the back of my card front and added the sprinkles in for my shaker. (I just raided my baking/ice cream sprinkles stash) I put adhesive on the other side of the foam and adhered everything to the card base. I decided it looked too plain so I made a quick mask for the banner and then gumball machine and then did some ink splatters in the same colors I used for my ink blending. (My favorite way to add splatters is to smoosh some ink on an acrylic block, add a little water, and then flick it off and on to the paper with a paint brush) I guess I went a little overboard with the splatters but it's still better than before - I'll just say I was going for a jawbreaker look because that's kind of what it looks like now! I finished it off with some (surprise, surprise) baker's twine!

Hooray for the end of March! Now Jeff just has one more month of this semester left and then he can be home in the evenings and on Saturdays again! It'll be nice to be excited about the weekends again ☺

In other news, I'm getting a root canal on Tuesday and I'm pretty excited about my tooth not hurting anymore!
