I made a thing! And it lights up!!!

I am so excited to share this card today! I finally used my chibitronics that have been sitting on a shelf intimidating me for the last few months!

So here it is with the lights on (I had some issues with the foam tape around my battery but the added bonus of that is that you can see it all lit up without my thumb pressing down on the battery and blocking the view of the card!)

and here it is without the lights on
so making this took a few days, and I'm sure that the chibitronics will get easier to use with more practice. I started off by stamping all of my images on Neenah cardstock with Memento black ink (I did mask off the flowers for the fairies to hold) and colored them with Copic markers before fussy cutting everything out. (a note about buying matching dies: If i had the budget I would always buy the matching dies for stamp sets, I think they're wonderful, but since I have a limited budget my rule of thumb is that if a die set is just outlines, I can't buy the dies because I can just fussy cut it out (unless there are word dies or I think I want the dies for a negative image.) If the dies cut out a piece inside the image, like if the window on the house were meant to be cut out for instance, I go ahead and usually get the dies since I'm not super fond of cutting things like that out. make sense?)
I did a bunch of ink blending with distress inks for my background and then die cut that out with the scalloped rectangle die. I die cut another scalloped rectangle out of green cardstock and cut the layers of my grass out from that. I stamped my sentiment on the bottom grass panel with versamark and embossed it with white embossing powder. I adhered my bottom grass piece down and then placed everything where I wanted it. I stamped my hearts and then pierced holes where my flowers and my window were going to be. I marked down the holes on a white card base for my lights and then ran my copper tape and placed down my lights and my battery. Then I adhered everything together with foam adhesive (taking care not to place adhesive anywhere my lights were going to show) and it was done!

I registered for my first full marathon yesterday! I'm so excited and super nervous, I've done a bunch of half marathons (although it's been a few years) but a marathon seems so crazy long!

Have a great day!
