Yeti for Christmas!

Hello and happy Monday!

I love these little Yetis and I'm kind of smitten with this card; it gets all the heart eyes because it turned out exactly how I pictured it on the first try!

So, lots and lots of masking on this one. I started out by die cutting a circle out of masking paper and using it to figure out the placement for my sentiment stamp on a piece of Neenah card stock. After that was stamped I went ahead and used the negative piece from the circle die cut to mask off my card stock. I stamped the first yeti and then masked him off, including those itsy bitsy little Christmas lights that are hanging off of him. I stamped the second yeti and masked him off to stamp the present. I masked the present and cut one more piece of masking paper with the snow drifts die to mask off the bottom of the circle. Now that everything was safely covered, all that was showing was the sky portion of the circle, I blended some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink for the sky, heat set that and then stamped the snowy background with versamark and embossed it with Hero Arts Embossing Powder. Then I got to take all of the masks off and it's always so exciting to see my little scene revealed when the masks come off. I think Kristina Werner said it was a little bit like Christmas morning and she's totally right. I colored the cute little yetis in with Copic Markers and hit the Christmas lights with some Wink of Stella shimmer and Glossy Accents. I added some Baker's twine and a bow under the sentiment and then adhered it all down to a red piece of cardstock cut to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and then glued that down to a white card base.

Hooray for Christmas cards! I wish it wasn't too early to start decorating for Christmas! Emma was a little bit bossy/cranky yesterday so we spent most of the day sitting in the glider while I worked on my Christmas shopping lists, I'm ready to go get all of the presents, wrap them up, put them under my pretty tree and eat all of the cookies while listening to Christmas music or watching Christmas movies! I can't wait for my first Eggnog steamer from Starbucks. I can't wait to design my album for my December Daily this year (I bought the 6x8 gold polka dot album but I changed my mind and I'm going to buy the 4x6 album and save the 6x8 for next year, I've been alternating between 4x6 and 6x8 every year and this is a 4x6 year, also we probably won't have as many activities this year with the baby so a 4x6 will be easier to fill and next year we'll probably go to Disney World for a little bit in December and that will definitely fill up a 6x8...end ramble.)

Side rant:
while working on my Christmas lists I was planning out what to get Bree for Christmas and one of the toy lines I was looking at was the Galactic Heroes Star Wars toys, Bree loves Star Wars and already has the Millenium Falcon and a Tie Fighter from that line, We're probably getting her the AT-AT for Christmas, but anyways, they make so many Star Wars characters for that toy line but not a single good Leia figure. They have Leia in her bounty hunter disguise and her Endor landing party outfit, but neither one of those is really recognizable, and then they have the Slave Leia outfit. And it's not just this line, When they made the Star Wars unleashed characters the only Leia was Slave Leia, when they made the black series (a really high quality action figure) the only Leia was once again, Slave Leia. If these were just statues marketed towards guys I could see it a little bit, but these are toys. Leia was so much more than that stupid bikini. She was a leader of the rebellion at 19 years old, she was a Princess and a key member of the Imperial Senate, she was strong enough to withstand Darth Vader's interrogation/torture mind probe, and so much more. (seriously, I could go on about this for awhile...) She is an amazing character and I'm thrilled that something my daughter loves has such a strong female figure in a central role. What I don't love is the fact that the toy companies cheapen her to a lousy sex symbol by the toys they market to children.
end rant.

Anyways, I'll be back with more Christmas cards all week! (I got my October Monthly Hero Kit this weekend and can't wait to get stamping with it!) Have a very merry Monday!
