I'm so excited to share this card with you today! It took me three nights to finish it! (granted, it was still only about 3-4 hours on this card, but when you only have an hour or two of crafty time each night, that's a lot!) It turned out exactly how I pictured it! (don't you just love it when that happens?!)
So here it is: Ta-Daaaa!
That's right, it's a triple slider!!! It took some work to make the ghosts slide well together without being all sorts of wobbly but i'm pretty happy with it.
To start off I stamped the pumpkins and the ghosts (with a bit of masking on the ghosts to add the hats and accessories) in a Copic friendly ink on Neenah Cardstock, and then colored them with Copics and fussy cut them out. Next I inked up my background twice on two pieces of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock, I used Seedless Preserves and Dusty Concord Distress Ink and an ink blending tool, then I used the Snowy backdrop die cut as a mask to sponge on the stars and spots with White Pigment Ink. I die cut the hill out of black cardstock and glued the pumpkins down to the top of it and then fidgeted with the spacing to place my slider channels for the ghosts. I cut a strip of cardstock to go across the backs of all of the ghosts and adhered them with foam tape. I stamped my sentiment on the hill with Versamark ink and embossed it with white embossing powder and then added the hill with a triple layer of foam tape underneath it, being careful to leave room for the ghosts to slide under the hill without hitting any of the tape. I cut another strip of Neenah cardstock and stamped the Boo speech bubble in versamark and embossed it before inking the strip up just like the background. I adhered it (with some extra diagonal supports branching out to the other two ghosts) behind the center ghost to be the slider mechanism. Then I turned the whole piece over and added a double layer of foam tape (it's a good thing I'm just handing this to my husband who really liked it, it would be ridiculous to mail with all of the layers!) again, being careful not to put any in the way of the slider mechanism. I adhered it to my other inked background and then glued that whole thing down to a white card base to finish it off!
I think I'm just about done with Halloween cards for the year, they're super cute and so much fun to make, but I don't really send out Halloween cards so they usually just end up sitting in my card bin collecting dust until I go through and purge my card stash. Also, I'm super excited to get in to Christmas cards and all of my new pretty Christmas stamps :)
Emma turned six weeks old yesterday, which is insane, I can't decide if it feels like she just got here, or if I've been the star of this crazy circus for forever :)
I'm still letting her nurse on demand, but that means that in the afternoon/evening that she usually wants to eat every. single. hour. and Bree is, as always, a serious Mama's girl so she'll spiral into a series of meltdowns if I need to feed Emma and try to send her Daddy to brush her teeth or do anything else she's decided is a mama job... definitely a circus.
