Hello and happy Monday!
I have a card for Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge #37 today. The challenge is to create a project using plaid so I created my own plaid with masking paper and Distress Inks.
Here's my card:
and the inside:
I started off by stamping the cat in his present on a piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock in My Favorite Things Black Hybrid Ink because I knew I wanted to use Copic markers, and then masked that off to stamp the other presents behind it. I masked the presents off too and stamped my sentiment in Hero Arts black ink. Next I got to work on my plaid pattern, (I sketched out a rough design of where I wanted my stripes on some scratch paper with colored pencils) I used strips of masking paper to mask off my stripes and then added the ink with an ink blending tool. I used Abandoned Coral, Festive Berries, Cracked Pistachio, and Mowed Lawn Distress Inks for my stripes. I just kept adding more stripes until I was happy with the design, I did use a bunch of masking paper for this, I only used the strips of masking paper once because I didn't want the ink to saturate the masking paper and mess up my card. After the plaid pattern was done I colored my images in with Copic markers, sticking to the same color scheme as the plaid pattern. I adhered the white card stock to a green card base, adhered the inside panel and stamped the sentiment inside, and finished the card off with some sequins!
We reached an exciting milestone this weekend, Emma slept for a full 8 hours on Saturday night! Hopefully this is the beginning of a new trend. She'll be 2 months old on Saturday :)
Today is our termite inspection and we have to get an estimate for some work that needs to be done under the house. We need a support beam under the house replaced because it rotted, we need a new moisture barrier, and we need the crawl space cleaned up (I'd love to save money and do it myself, but there's no way I'm going to crawl around in there with the spiders...) so fingers crossed that it won't be super expensive.
Have a great day!
