I don't know exactly what to call the technique where I stamp the image and sentiment on a piece of cardstock and then trim it down around the image with a straight line and fussy cutting, but it definitely seems to be a trend in my cards this summer!
I started off by stamping the sentiment and lighthouse on a piece of white cardstock, cut to 4" wide and then trimmed it down to the middle of the lighthouse base and thanks. I wrapped the cardstock with some baker's twine and then went to work on the background. I inked up the background with some blue distress inks and stamped the sailboats and birds in white pigment ink (I used my MISTI and double stamped them so they would stand out better). I stamped the sail for the bigger boat on white cardstock and fussy cut it out and adhered it to the blue cardstock. I added the lighthouse piece with foam tape and adhered the whole thing to a white card base!
