I've got more succulents for today's cards, I just keep picking up this stamp set!
I'm currently on a bit of a crafty spending freeze (new baby on the way, a couple of home improvement projects that have to be done, paying off some debt, and learning to live on straight time instead of depending on overtime!) which combined with my decision to keep to an active blog schedule, means I'm really getting a ton of use out of some of my older stamps that just didn't get enough love when I first got them :)
When I have a stamping heavy card (especially when I'm using the MISTI) I usually stamp more than one piece at the same time in case I mess something up, lately though, I don't actually mess anything up and then I end up with a bunch of stamped pieces of the same design. For today's card I actually did 4 pieces of the stamped succulents (the other two will be in a later blog post as they got a different color scheme and design!) so I went ahead and colored them all at the same time :)
So I started off by stamping my sentiment in Hero Arts black ink on a white Neenah Cardstock piece cut to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". Next I used my MISTI to stamp all of the succulents and their pots, filling up the background. I colored them with my Copic Markers. (which took forever with so many backgrounds to color!) I kind of love browsing some of the succulents hashtags on instagram to get different color scheme ideas for these plants (although I also had some interesting pornographic pictures pop up under #succulent which was a bit shocking!)
I trimmed my panels down a bit and then flicked some black soot distress ink that I smooshed onto an acrylic block and mixed with a little water on the panels to add a little texture and interest. I adhered them to black cardstock cut to 4 1/4"x 5 1/2" with the striped pieces of cardstock I had leftover from my flamingo card I made a couple of weeks ago (waste not want not!). I added some baker's twine and then adhered them to white card bases to finish them off!
Nothing super exciting going on around here today, just staying home with Bree and working in the studio. I'm almost caught up enough with cards for blog content that I should be able to move to Project Life catch up in a few days! (although I doubt I'll be able to power through the 4 albums I need to do in the 24 days before my due date!)
Have a great day! Tomorrow I'll be back with my 2015 December Daily Album video!
