Robot Card

Today's card has some easy stamping, a teensy bit of masking, and coloring with Copics on these adorable robots from Lawn Fawn!

Here's an angled shot so you can ooh and aah over the pretty Wink of Stella shimmer :)
(ignore how badly my cuticle needs moisturizing...)

So for this card I started out by stamping the sentiment and the cupcake on a piece of Neenah white cardstock. Then I stamped the cupcake on masking paper, cut it out and put the mask directly over the stamped cupcake before stamping the robot. (My Mom's always telling me that masking sounds confusing when I type it out and I should take progress pictures but I never really get around to it when I'm stamping. I mask off stamped images all the time and still sometimes screw it up, even as much as I do it, at the end of the day sometimes I have hard time wrapping my brain around what is supposed to be in the background versus the foreground and which one needs to be stamped first and masked. I ruined two cards like that this week, super annoying...)
ANYWAYS, I stamped the other robot then colored them both with Copic Markers. After they were all colored I stamped the balloon and string and all of the gray gears on the white panel. I die cut the robot panel with a stitched rectangle die from My Favorite Things and then wrapped baker's twine around the top. (I really like baker's twine, I realized I might like it a little too much when I was photographing all of the cards I made last week and realized that just about all 15 of them had baker's twine wrapped around them somewhere!) I cut a piece of gray cardstock to just under the size of a card, 4 1/8' x 5 3/8", and stamped the gears all over that in Lawn Fawn Merman ink (which is currently my very favorite teal ink...) and then adhered it to a Blu Raspberry card base. I adhered the white rectangle die cut to the card with foam adhesive and finished everything off with some Wink of Stella shimmer on the robots and glossy accents on the balloon!

Jeff and I are pretty nerdy so we've been enjoying all of the news and previews from Comicon this week! Super excited about Doctor Strange, we think Ghost Rider is a weird choice for Agents of Shield, (I think he would have been better as a Netflix show like Daredevil and Jessica Jones...) Justice League looks pretty good, Wonder Woman looks cool, but I think it would have been cooler if it had come out before Batman v. Superman (after fighting Dooomsday, fighting a normal war just seems underwhelming for her, and we're hoping they don't put too much emphasis on the romance with Chris Pine...), We're a little confused/concerned about the reveal of Star Lord's father's identity for Guardians of the Galaxy 2... seriously, a planet is his dad? So far I like the story line of his dad much better in the comics, but the first Guardians movie was so good I'm prepared to give James Gunn the benefit of the doubt and hope it'll still be awesome, ( I had actually kind of forgotten how excited I was to find out who his dad is with all of the excitement about guessing who Rey's parents are going to be in Star Wars!) I keep forgetting to watch the teaser for Iron Fist but with as good as Daredevil is (and parts of Jessica Jones...) I'm sure it will be awesome. I saw a headline about the story for Sherlock Season 4 but I kind of just want to be surprised about it (because we all know it will be phenomenal) so I didn't read the article. :)
I suppose that's enough rambling... I don't get out much, so when I start talking (or typing apparently) everything just comes out like a flood :)
Have a great day!
