Today's card is for a My Favorite Things Color Challenge!
I bought this stamp set when it first came out months ago, but I couldn't think of anything cute that I hadn't already seen people do with it (the only drawback of amazing design teams is that once you finally get the stamps in your hands, it feels like all of the best ideas with it have already been used!) This week I looked at this particular chef and decided that he was symmetrical enough that I could do a spinner card and that would be perfect for the Flippin' Awesome sentiment :)
I started off by stamping the chef twice and coloring him with Copic markers, then I die cut a white card base, and a red frame with the inside and out stitched rectangle stax dies. I sketched off the area that would show through my frame on the front on a piece of watercolor cardstock and then stamped my little background in After Midnight Ink. I used some masking fluid over all of those images so I could water color over them with Aqua Mist ink. Once everything had dried I held my breath (I don't have good luck with masking fluid, it doesn't like me) and rubbed off the masking fluid and colored my background images with Copic Markers. I stamped my sentiment and then adhered the water color panel to the inside of the card. I stamped the background on the front of the card and then adhered the red frame to the front. I adhered the chef back to back on a piece of thread and then adhered it to the inside of the card front. To finish everything off I die cut another rectangle out of a white cardstock panel and adhered it to the inside cover of the card to cover up my string and then tied some baker's twine around the top!
Nesting hit hard again yesterday, instead of the reasonable and pretty long to-do list of stuff I wanted to do yesterday I got caught up cleaning out and organizing my side of under the bed and the closet and going through my jewelry and hall closet... It didn't help that I got Bree a little Snow White doll this weekend and the shoes come off, Bree doesn't want Snow White to go barefoot, but the darn shoes won't stay on, and Bree can't put them on herself, so she hands me the doll and shoes about every 30 seconds asking for help. Glue dots did not help; Bree immediately took the shoes off and peeled the glue dots off and handed them back to me disapprovingly. sigh.
