Make it Monday #254: Stenciling with Texture Paste

Hello! I'm back!

I'm almost through my pregnancy, only about 8 weeks left and I finally felt well enough to make some stuff the last few weeks so I'll be back here with regular posts Monday through Friday starting today! (and I'm pretty confidant that I can even make enough ahead to have posts during my "maternity leave!")

Today's card is for this week's Make it Monday Challenge from Papertrey Ink. The challenge was to stencil with texture paste (which I've had for months now and finally opened it for the first time for this card!)

here's my card: (ignore the colors that bled a little bit, I used a bit too much water when I was painting with my reinkers...)

and here's an angled shot because I can't resist showing off that Wink of Stella shimmer :)

I started this card with a panel of white cardstock and used one of my Papertrey Modern Background Stencils with some texture paste and then painted a pretty orangey-yellow gradient fade on it with water and some reinkers. I used orange zest, summer sunrise, harvest gold, and lemon tart and I love it, such happy colors! (I went over it a few too many times and used a smidge too much water which is why my colors bled, I initially wasn't using the orange zest but I decided that it needed a darker color to start it off so I had to go back over everything to blend it all back together.) Anyways, I took my stencil off and immediately rinsed it off and left my panel to dry while I worked on the rest of the card. I die cut the Shine word and exclamation point out of Smokey Shadow cardstock and partially out of the vellum strip, I kept the negative pieces of the vellum so I could stick it all together to create that inlaid one-layer look. I stamped my sentiment on the vellum and then adhered that to my stenciled panel (after it was dry). I glued down my die cut word and the negative pieces from the vellum with glossy accents and then added some sequins with the glossy accents. I added the Wink of Stella shimmer to the die cut and then finished the card off by mounting it on a white card base!

I'm so excited to be back in the studio, my daughter is finally *mostly* old enough to hang out in the studio with me (with careful supervision) so I can get some crafting done during the day. She sorts my buttons (which means she empties out the jars and spreads them all over the floor and then they stick to her feet and she tap dances down the hallway with them...) she plays with pom-poms, flash cards, some little dolls, and a huge star wars book with lots of buttons that make noise; unfortunately she also likes to throw my washi tape rolls away, open some of my ink pads, and try to unwind my tape runner, so I do still have to watch her like a hawk... On top of making a ton of cards for the blog I've also been catching up on Project Life (I have to decorate it of course, so it's not as simple as it could be...) I finished two albums last month and have 4 (!) more to do to catch up; and December Daily albums (I was 3 years behind!) I finished my 2015 December Daily last week (which I'll share in a video this month sometime, I love it!) and then I printed 2013 and 2014 in the last two days so they're ready to be decorated! And just in case all of that (and being a stay at home mom to a 2 (almost 3!) year old) wasn't enough, I've been nesting like crazy and deep cleaning parts of my house that I've never cleaned before in the 7 years we've lived here...

Also, I'm having another baby girl! She should make her appearance at the end of August and I'm very anxiously counting down the days (58 in case you were wondering...)

Anyways, have a fantastic weekend and a very happy Fourth of July! (to those of you in the US) I'll be back on Monday with a fun patriotic shaker card :)
