National Ice Cream Day is this Sunday so I thought this card would be a good one to share today :)
I had a bit of trouble with this card but I still managed to make it work! I started out the first version by stamping the ice cream cones in versamark and embossing them with clear embossing powder on some watercolor paper. Then I watercolored over them to try and create a resist with the embossing, but the orange paint just kept seeping into the ice cream cone image for some reason, so I tried again and when the same thing happened I decided I needed a new plan :)
So I die cut and stamped the new cones out of Natural cardstock and ink and adhered them on top of the messed up embossed cones. I used my spare watercolor sheet to die cut the ice cream out of (so I didn't even waste the extra attempt! hooray!) and adhered them on top of the cones. I swiped some wink of stella on the ice cream to make it look pretty and frosty. I stamped and die cut the cherries and the stems and adhered them on top of the ice cream and then glossy accented the cherries. I finished up the front with a stitching die along the bottom and the Happy Birthday sentiement stamped at the top. I stamped the sentiment and cherry inside a card base and then adhered the front panel on to the base and it was all done!
Nothing too exciting is going on here this weekend. Jeff always works Saturday morning-afternoon and then this Saturday he's helping a friend move (in the rain. better him than me.) after work. Sunday will be a little more exciting because I'm going shopping for a different dress for my maternity pictures (I just don't love the short length of the other dress I had picked...) and then of course we'll go out for ice cream since it's national ice cream day!
Have a fantastic weekend!
