Make it Monday: Embellishing With Felt

Hi! Today's card is for this week's Make it Monday Challenge: Embellishing with felt, from Papertrey Ink.  I have a serious love/hate relationship with this card. On one hand I absolutely love how it turned out, but on the other, that sucker changed direction so many times that it took me over 3 hours to finish, so I kind of hate that. But seriously, this is one of my favorites and I think it's even earned a coveted spot on my windowsill where my favorite cards live :)

Not counting all of the other variations this card went through, we'll just say that I started off with a kraft card base and stamped the Background Basics: Farm & Barn wood pattern in Kraft Ink. Next I die cut the cover plate out of white cardstock. I colored all of the holly leaves and pine branches on the die cut with some shades of blue green copic markers. I die cut an extra flower out of pure poppy felt from the cover plate and I die cut the word Joy out of the Enclosed Bell die with the red felt and cut it out of the frame. (if you look at the picture of the die in the supply list, that will make sense...) I adhered the cover plate to my kraft card base with lots of multi medium matte, then I adhered the felt flower and word with the same glue. To finish the card off I added some red sequins to the centers of the other two flowers. (and 3.5 hours later I finally got to go to bed...)

And the best news of the week is that my Mama gets here today!!! She gets to stay with me until the day after my birthday (which is the day after Christmas. pity me.) and I'm so excited and have so many fun Christmas activities planned for us! Also, with her here to help watch Bree, I should be able to have a little more time to work in my studio which means playing catch up with December Daily, working ahead on cards for my blog so I'm not up until 3 in the morning finishing up the day's blog post (which sadly happens a lot.), and some reorganizing work in my studio, I'm transferring all of my Papertrey stamps out of the cd and dvd cases to the Avery Elle stamp pockets I store all of my other stamp brands in, which means I had to order a few hundred stamp labels from PTI and I still have so much work to do on that. yikes.

Anyways, I hope you liked my card (because I think it's pretty awesome. just sayin'.) and thanks so much for visiting! Have a fantastic day!

P.S. I think I have a new card for this year's Christmas cards! We picked up Jeff yesterday for a long lunch and hauled the tripod to City Center and took a bunch of pictures, I love this one!

  2. Great card, that happens to me too frequently as well! Sometimes at the end of the 3 hrs or whatever i am still not happy with it. In any case there is always a lot of tidying up to do, because I have grabbed so many pieces of cardstock, design paper, embellishments etc. that a lot of my stuff is stacked around me.

  3. Your card is awesome! You will love having your stamps in the Avery envelopes! It is a big project, but takes up so much less space and is so much cleaner;)
    Have fun with your mom!
