Hello! I have a shaker card with the adorable Holiday Hugs set from WPlus9 and the super funSnow Globe Shaker die from Papertrey Ink that I've been itching to use!
I feel like no matter what I do with this one, the photos really don't do it justice, the shading is really much better than it looks here and girl's skin tone is not quite that dark - promise!
here's an angled shot so you can check out that shimmer on the sky!
and one where the glitter and sequins are all spread out!
I started this one by die cutting the snowglobe base and stamping the girl and bear on neenah cardstock with my favorite things black ink. When the ink was dry I colored them with copics. I stamped the snowflakes around them with versamark ink and embossed them with clear embossing powder. I cut a mask for the snow out of Simon Says Stamp masking paper and stuck that down over the girl and bear. I blended the sky with a bunch of Distress Ink (as usual, I had one shade that came out too dark and had to make the whole sky darker than I intended. one of these days I'll learn my lesson, It's just been a few years since I used Distress Inks and so some of my inks are the newer colors and are much more inky than my older ones, and relearning how to blend takes practice.) anyways, after the sky was blended I ran a wink of stella pen over the sky and the snow, and then added white snowflake dots with my white gel pen. I die cut the other pieces of the snow globe out of neenah, aqua mist, clear, and a glitter cardstock (I can't remember the brand of glitter cardstock i used, sorry!) and assembled it. (I'll do a video with this die sometime soon so you can see how I assembled everything!) before adding the label, I stamped the sentiment in Black Versafine ink. I finished up the snow globe with a few enamel dots. I cut a piece of pink cardstock to 4 1/4" x 11" and scored it at 5 1/2" to make the card base. I cut a piece of patterned vellum to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and adhered it to the front of the card. (I knew the snow globe would be in the center and the stitched frame would hold it in place so i just ran my adhesive in a small strip down the center where I knew it wouldn't show) I ran the card front through my die cut machine with the large string frames die and then stitched through the holes with embroidery thread. I attached the snow globe to the front of the card and it was finished! (actually, I had to stop the card over night because I didn't have the right color of thread, then I had left the snow globe front all white and had stamped a bigger sentiment on it, but it just didn't look right so I just kept coming back to the card all day very dissatisfied, the aqua mist base and the sentiment label were definitely what it needed!)
Yesterday was not my best day. I don't know why I hate my right pinky toe, but whenever I trip on something, it's almost always with that toe; my toenail has put up the good fight, but I pretty much killed it by tripping over one of the end tables in my living room. it mostly fell off, and that mostly word is important because I had to pull it the rest of the way off. *shudder*. Anyways, between that, a Peppermint Mocha from Starbucks that did not get along well with my stomach, and a toddler who was only happy when the delay between bites of goldfish crackers or teddy grahams was under 2.5 seconds, it was a long day. (oh, one more thing, i have an ant bite on the knuckle of my index finger that's been driving me crazy for almost a week now! must. not. itch.) So, needless to say, i'm looking forward to a fresh start today :)
(i get my yesterdays, todays, and tomorrows very mixed up when I write these posts, sometimes i write them the afternoon (or when i actually have my *ahem* stuff together it might be a few days ahead) before they go live, sometimes the night before around 10 PM, or sometimes, the morning of, around 3 AM. So I try to keep my days as if I'm talking to you on the day it's published; but sometimes my brain doesn't function on that higher level after a long day, so yesterday, today, and tomorrow really could be anytime...)
