Hello! As I started typing this post I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas started playing on my phone, I was listening to my playlist of favorite Christmas music (which has about 300 songs) on shuffle and this just happened to come on as soon as I finished typing the title of the post; talk about meant to be! It's one of my favorite Christmas songs so as soon as I saw the Hipster-Potamus stamp from Avery Elle I started trying to figure out how to put a Santa hat on him :)
(I didn't realize how streaky the hippo's nose was until I uploaded the picture here, reason #42 why you shouldn't do your copic coloring at 2:00 AM)
To start this one off, I stamped the merry hat in red on Neenah cardstock and then stamped the hat again on masking paper and masked the hat off to stamp the hippo. I colored the hippo with Copic markers and then very painstakingly cut out the hippo and the Merry (which was a pain to cut). I die cut a circle with the pierced circle die out of neenah cardstock and then cut a snow drift off of the bottom of the circle. I stamped the snowflakes on the top part of the circle and embossed them with clear embossing powder. Next I used my ink blending tool and Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean Distress Ink to ink up the sky on the top part of my circle. I used multi matte medium to add glitter to the bottom part of my circle (and the white part of the hippo's santa hat) and then adhered both parts of the circle to another circle die cut out of the pierced circle die (the same size). I glued the hippo down to the circle and then set it aside. I die cut the chevron cover-up out of neenah cardstock and then taped it down to a red card base. Using the cover-up as a placement guide, I glued down the chevrons inside the cover-up and then picked up the cover-up frame and adhered that with foam tape. I tied some baker's twine around the card, adhered my circle with the hippo, used my wink of stella pen over all of the red ink on my hat and sentiment, and then glued down some sequins to finish it off!
Here's a picture at an angle so you can see the shimmer!
My December Daily album finally arrived last night and now I'm so excited to decorate the outside of it and get it ready for December! (Christmas still seems far away until I realize that I only really have two more weeks at home until December starts - I'll be out of town for the week of Thanksgiving - and I want to be done with as much Christmas prep as possible before December 1 so I can do fun Christmas activities and have time to keep up with my December Daily and make cards, and blog, and when I think about all of that it makes me start hyperventalating... deep breath...)
Well I'd better get back to work and try to not have a panic attack ;)
See you tomorrow!
