hello and welcome to a new week! I like all of the cards I post here (otherwise I wouldn't post them...) but this one is my new favorite, I just love it!
Alright, here are the details for the card-of-many-steps: I started by stamping all of the reindeer (with pencil lines marking off straight lines and center lines on my card that I erased after everything was stamped), the star at the top of my little "tree", and the tiny little candy canes. Next I colored all of them with my Copics and added some wink of stella to the star and Rudolph's nose. Next I lightly sketched lines where I wanted my garland to be with a pencil so I'd have an idea of where to stamp my ornaments. I stamped and colored the ornaments, added some wink of stella, and erased the pencil lines. Next I sketched a snow slope on masking paper and cut it out and then stamped and cut out masks for the bottom three reindeer, the candy canes, and the two bottom ornaments. After all of those were masked off I used my ink blending tool to blend in some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink above the snow slope. I pierced holes where I wanted the ends of my garland to be and then threaded the garland (I used some really old Websters Pages garland ribbon - I couldn't find it anywhere to link up, if I could find it I'd order a few more, they were great little Christmas ribbons) through a needle and stitched it in place between the deer. I added black enamel accents on the deer's nose. I stamped the sentiment in Hero Arts black ink and mounted the panel on a red card base to finish it off!
here's a close-up picture of the coloring:
And a nice angled picture so you can see all of the shiny fun!
I had a great weekend, I hope you did too. I stayed up late every night making cards and spent all day playing with my daughter. On Saturday we went to the Poquoson Seafood Festival (and I ate amazing fried mac-n-cheese bites - life changing - and some ok seafood) Bree's two and it's so fun to see her starting to use her imagination when she plays. She's started pretending to talk on her play phone, she pretended to mix up a cake today, she pretends to sip out of her play cups, and she's starting to sing along with her Little People Disney Princesses which completely makes my heart go pitter-pat. I'm loving every second (except for the ones involving her rapidly increasing picky eating habits... those just popped up out of nowhere.) Anyways, I'll be back tomorrow with a My Favorite Things card that turned out super adorable! Have a fantastic day!
P.S. I hope all of my rambling is at least a little comprehensible - I like to edit my posts, but i'm typing this up at 2:30 AM and my brain feels like it has turned to mush and editing doesn't work so well when the words dance all around the screen as you try to read them through dry sleepy eyes!
