Christmas in the City Ornament Card

Hello! Thank you for visiting and if you're one of my new followers or any of the people who left sweet comments yesterday, thank you!!! You're wonderful and you made my day much brighter :)

(it's nice to know that I'm not just writing this blog for my mother to read! Hi Mom!)

I started this card out by stamping the ornaments in My Favorite Things black ink on Neenah cardstock, and stamping the city scene and the tiny sweet little Santa & his reindeer inside one of the ornaments (talk about a perfect fit, the Santa stamp is from another company but I love how it looks over that city skyline!). I colored the ornaments with copics (with MUCH blending on the red and silver ornaments) and then added the snow to the city ornament with my white pen. I cut out the ornaments and then stamped the little ornament toppers on silver foil paper with StazOn and cut them out and glued them to the colored ornaments. I stamped the border on the bottom of a white cardstock panel in red ink and then stamped the sentiment in black ink. I added the little ornament from the Reindeer Games stamp set to the sentiment and colored that in. I taped some silver thread to the back of each ornament and then adhered the ornaments down to the white panel. I taped the ends of the thread off on the back of the panel and then adhered the whole thing to a red card base.

Here's a close-up of my ornaments! (I'm kind of proud of them...)

And I thought the inside and the envelope deserved a picture too this time! I added that same ornament from the front to the inside sentiment and I stamped an ornament from WPlus9 on the envelope and colored it. (If you plan to color with copics - or really any marker that tends to bleed through - on an envelope, I would suggest slipping a scrap piece of cardstock in the envelope while you color so the marker doesn't soak through to the other side of your envelope!)

I like to make a card with a family picture every year that I mass produce to send to family and friends as our Christmas card so I have no idea what I'm going to do with the stash of Christmas cards i'm building up. I suppose some card drive is going to get a ton of cards from me (except for the reindeer card from the other day. that sucker is going on display in my studio!) Also - I have more Halloween cards than I've ever had before.
I'm a little bit bad about sending cards, It was always something I just accepted about myself before. I've been known to tell people that "you'll get your card late, sorry" like I just plan to send them late. weird. I decided this year that I didn't want to be that person any more. Sending cards late or not at all isn't a bred into the bone character flaw, it's a decision. So now I'm starting to send cards. I've mailed three cards off this week! (and now i'm out of stamps... lol) I even mailed a present to my Mama to go with her card :)

so go send or give a card to someone and make today a wonderful day! Tomorrow I have a precious little monster card to share!
