Happy Halloween!

Good morning and Happy Halloween!
I'm writing this at 2:30 AM and my studio looks like this:

 dun dun dunnnnnnnn.
I'm working on the floor in between my desk and my husband's desk because there isn't any floor space left on my half of the room. I just finished the last touches on my Halloween costume, I still have to shower, and I have to get up to get ready for my race in three hours. yikes. So to sum up, I sure don't have a card to share today lol
I'll pop on to instagram later today to share pictures of my running costume and my race and then I'll be back in the studio later this evening (Bree's really too young to trick or treat so I get to stay at home one more year!) to clean up and start making cards for next week's blog posts! Wish me luck (and a nap!) and have a fantastic Halloween!
See you on Monday!

Eye see you!

Hello! Today I've got my last Halloween card for the year. When I saw the Ring Wreath Die from Simon Says Stamp it just screamed eyeball wreath (from the Epbot blog) to me!

I die cut the wreath out of white and black cardstock. I stamped a dot in each eye, then added some shading on each dot, stamped a black dot, and then used my white gel pen in the center of each eye. I added some veins in all of the eyes, but sadly the glossy accents turned a good blood red color into a neon orangey color that makes me super sad but not sad enough to start over apparently. I dropped some Mister Huey droplets on my white cardstock panel and stamped the sentiment in the center. I adhered everything together and finished it off with a bow! (that was a super quick description of a very labor intensive card...)

I'm almost done with my Halloween costume! I have my shirt made, now I just have to add some details to it and find some knee socks at the store and then I'll be ready to run on Saturday morning!
I'll be back tomorrow and then on Monday I'll share some costume pictures with you!

have a good one!

Make it Monday #228: Pearlized Blending

Good Morning! Bree's still running a low fever off and on and she has a super runny nose, but she slept pretty well last night so I got some time to finish this card :)
This one's for this week's Make it Monday challenge: pearlized blending

so here's my card:

I'll be honest. The final card was my third attempt at that dumb background :) I thought my first one was too small, I had a whole inch border on each side of my background and it was just way too small and too much white space. The second one came out beautifully, but my hand caught it wrong while i was buffing the pearl out and it completely crumpled and ruined it. sigh.

To start I used the Fabulous Frames die collection to cut the big rectangle frame out of a big piece of vellum to use as my mask. I lined my mask up over a piece of white Neenah cardstock (cut to 4 1/8" x 5 3/8") and stamped my snowy background in versamark ink and then clear embossed it. I lined up my mask again and then taped everything down. That sucker was not going to shift anywhere. (my first two attempts taught me a couple of valuable lessons!) Then, starting from the bottom I used an ink blending tool and blended aqua mist, spring rain, blueberry sky, and enchanted evening inks, going light to dark and dark back to light a few times until it was blended enough to satisfy me. Then I used a makeup sponge to sponge versamark ink over my masked background. I carefully removed my mask and added some perfect pearls to the background with a paintbrush. I used a dry baby wipe to buff out the perfect pearls. (which made it a little streaky and smudged my perfectly crisp background lines. I'll be honest, I liked it better before the perfect pearl)

Here's a picture that really shows off the sheen of the pearls:

Next I stamped my sentiment on the bottom of the panel in black ink. I die cut the sleigh from white cardstock and stamped that in black ink. I die cut a strip of white cardstock with the stitched slopes and hills die and then used multi medium to add the distress rock candy dry glitter (love love love that stuff, especially for snow!). I adhered the snowy hill and the sleigh die cuts, tied a white ribbon around the top of the panel, and then adhered the panel to a Spring Rain card base. ta-da!

Bree and I are going shopping today for the final pieces for my Halloween costume. I'm a little excited, one of the things I want to get is lipstick. I haven't bought lipstick since I was in 10th grade (about 15 years ago. eek!) I didn't even wear lipstick at my wedding, just clear gloss. I'm running a 10k race (and when I say running, I mean plodding along with intervals of running and walking. i'm out of shape...) on Halloween morning with my cousin so I have a reason to dress and up and somewhere to go in my costume which is always fun!
This is shaping up to be a very Papertrey Ink week on my blog, I'll be back tomorrow with something else, probably copic colored, it's been a few days since I colored anything (aside from coloring with Bree and her crayons - sidenote: I totally layer colors and add shading in her coloring books now lol, the ultra washable crayons (crayola of course, none of the other brands exist to me) are super soft and they actually layer pretty well.) and I'm going through withdrawal :)

Babbling again. sorry. Have a fantastic day!

P.S. did you see my cute little Halloween card over on the My Favorite Things Challenge Blog!?!?!?! I'm so excited!

just dropping by...

Hi! I have a super quick post today. My little girl is a little sick and miserable (she never gets sick, I think she's only maybe had two days in her whole life (over two years) with sniffles and fevers, so when she doesn't feel good it makes her completely miserable. I still wanted to share something today though, so I have a card I made earlier this summer, hopefully Bree will nap on her own sometime today and I can finish my card for this week's Make it Monday challenge because I have a super fun idea for it!

so here's my card, it's mostly Papertrey Ink supplies, but the heart is a Simon Says Stamp die and I believe the sentiment is a Kelly Purkey stamp.

Have a good one and send healthy thoughts our way! I should be back with a regular post tomorrow!

Bottle Brush Joy Christmas Card

hello! The weather cooperated today so I could photograph my card!

This is one of those cards that managed to come out perfectly how I had envisioned it! I started with a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of watercolor paper. I used an ink smooshing technique for the background. I rubbed my Aqua Mist ink pad directly on a big acrylic block and spritzed it with water. I picked up the ink with a sheet of clear acetate and then smooshed it around on my paper to create the background.  dried my background with my heat tool and then stamped the tree base and the tree and embossed the tree in a pretty white sparkly embossing powder. I cut the watercolor paper down a bit, about 1/4" on each side, and mounted it on a pink card base. I used my sewing machine to stitch the lines down each side of the card. I die cut the word Joy from the pink cardstock (the die I used is actually the Enclosed" Bell die, I just cut the word out of the bell) and adhered it to the card. I die cut the star out of vellum and adhered that to the top of the tree. I ran over the Joy and star die cuts with a wink of stella pen and then finished off the card with some pretty Moonshine sequins.

Every year Target has the prettiest and fluffiest bottle brush trees for Christmas and I want them every. single. year. and I put off buying them all season until they're gone. They seem to be the only recurring decoration item that Target has because darn it they keep showing back up in the stores around the end of October, every year, preying on my weakening resolve. I want a whole forest of them in pretty aquas, pinks, silvers, and whites. desperately. I think this is my year :)

Have a fantastic day!

A Bella with Balloons!

Good morning! My Mama received the present that I mailed to her this weekend so I can finally share the card I made for her!

Sweet sweet sweet little girl! I love the Stamping Bella Tiny Townie stamps so. so. much. Anyways. I stamped her and colored her with Copics and then die cut the tag around her. I masked her and some clouds off with masking paper and blended Distress Ink over the masks to make the sky. I stamped the sentiment on the cloud and set the tag aside while I assembled the rest of the card. I stamped the background about two thirds of the way up on a 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" white cardstock panel. I adhered the white panel to a pink card base and tucked the ribbon under the tag and then adhered them to the card. I die cut the little hearts and adhered them and then ran over them and the balloons with my Wink of Stella pen to finish the card!

a better picture of the shimmer!

You guys. There are less than two months until Christmas now. eek! I have so much to do before Christmas but I think, given enough Diet Coke, that I've totally got this! :)

We had a pretty good time at the pumpkin patch yesterday, although Bree had a couple of cranky nap-time meltdowns. She was delighted by the turkeys and goats, had a blast in the mazes, smiled through the hayride, and hopped in a cozy coupe in the play area like she's been driving them forever (although it was the first time she'd ever even seen one). The problem came when it was time to get out of the cozy coupe. whoops. It was still a good time though.

I have such a pretty soft Christmas card to share tomorrow (I was so excited that I was going to post it today, but i decided that no night-time picture can really do justice to it, I'll have to take it outside and get some natural light for it because it turned out perfectly!)

Have a great day! (it's nice and chilly here so Bree and I are going to make some pumpkin bars and then we're having Schnitzel for dinner, yum!)
