passion for papertrey baby challenge

Hi!
quick post tonight. wanted to link up my tag for
A Passion for Papertrey's baby challenge :)
not too much to chat about today. I spent most of the day working on projects for magazine submission calls so i can't share any of it until they're either rejected or published :)
now i'm off to the gym to get my 5 miles in on the treadmill while Jeff has another personal training session!
(a little background here: i love running. i'm a distance runner. i've finished 5 half marathons now and am signed up for another 5 this year. i'm going to run my first full marathon next january. i am a slow runner. I'm working on speed now because i run disney races and want more time to stop for the photo ops without the fear of being picked up by the pace van! i ran my last half marathon in disney in 3:37 and i didn't have the time to stop for all the pictures i wanted. i am now up to running 5 miles at a 12 minute mile pace and i'm so excited! i couldn't even do a single mile at that pace 2 months ago! yay!)

Happy Wednesday!

Hi! How's your Wednesday treating you?
Mine's kind of icky - cold and rainy. A neighbor a few houses down is having some trees cut down, so my dog and my mom's dog (i'm puppy-sitting, what joy.) have been going crazy all morning. (and i do mean all morning, they started EARLY on the dumb tree) So to try and keep from getting really crabby and cranky, I got inky in my studio and cranked up some Michael Jackson :) (I dare you to try not to smile while you're belting out and dancing around to Thriller and the Way You Make Me Feel!)

Today's card is brought to you by two challenges!
The Embellish Magazine Color Trends Masculine Challenge:

And CPS Sketch #211

Make it Monday #8 Ink Blending

Hi!
I actually got to make my Make it Monday Card on Monday!
This week's challenge was to use some ink blending techniques on a card. I used my ink blending tools and some Distress ink to color my rose and leaves and to add the lace border at the bottom. I was thinking about making a video of it, but couldn't figure out how to MacGyver anything in my studio into a working tripod thingy, so i just took some pictures of the different steps :)

here's my card :)

for the rose i used 4 colors. I started with some Spiced Marmalade in the center of the rose.

I added some Wild Honey around the center.
I blended in some Dried Marigold next.
and finally blended the whole thing together with Scattered Straw
I added some Wild Honey to the lines of my flower petals with my fantastix coloring tool and then blended the whole thing with Scattered Straw.
For my leaves i shaded one side with Shabby Shutters
and blended in some Peeled Paint.
for the bottom of the card i cut some cardstock with my doily edger die and temporarily adhered it to my card front with post-it notes. Then i sponged some Scattered Straw & Wild Honey ink on top!
Supplies:
everything's from Papertrey Ink except for my inks
Stamps: Year of Flowers: Roses, Background Basics: Retro, & Tiny Tags
Cardstock: White
Dies: Tiny Tags & Doily Edger
Rustic Button Twine
Inks: Black Memento Ink, Coffee Archival Ink, Chicken Feed Jenni Bowlin Ink, Scattered Straw, Wild Honey, Dried Marigold, Spiced Marmalade, Peeled Paint, & Shabby Shutters Distress Ink

not quite according to plan

I spent an hour or so working on a card for this week's Make it Monday challenge but then I kind of sort of ruined it when I was almost done... so I'll start over tomorrow. :)

In the mean time enjoy some rambling :)

I rented Megamind tonight and it was awesome. Jeff and I are going to buy it on bluray after our next payday. :)

I started decorating for Easter today, I bought the cutest little chicks on sale after last Easter and I love them! They're too cute; I'll post pictures of everything when I'm done decorating, I'm thinking about making a little mini banner with my Papertrey dies and maybe decorating a little Easter tree, not sure yet.

I saw this video today and it's hilarious and awesome. love it :)

and now I'm off to bed but I'll leave you with a quick and easy card I made with my Disney stamps, (dear EK Success, i LOVE my Disney stamps, please make more, and please make some Star Wars stamps too. that is all)

have a good night!

Birthday Banner Card

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

I'm up at 1 AM on my laptop because i learned a couple of valuable lessons tonight.
lesson #1. even if other people do it, i should not spray workable fixative in the house. ever.
lesson #2. the combination of my cupcake scented lotion and the workable fixative fumes makes me VERY sick.
lesson #3. i'm going to be a very unhappy camper at the gym this morning. well i guess this isn't a lesson so much as a prediction or statement of fact. :)

anyways, i figured since i was up anyways, i might as well post something new here. i really super completely want to go to RangerU someday and i was looking at the requirements for applying earlier. i actually meet one of them since i'm a published artist now (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) but the catch is i have to also be an active blogger. so expect to see a lot more of me here. :)

this is a happy little birthday card I made last December. love all those colors :)thanks for stopping by, as always, let me know what you think!
have a fantastic Saint Patrick's Day!!!!!

Hi! Happy Friday!
I'm working in my studio again after a week of being miserable sick. I still feel a little icky, but i'm more bored than sick now :)
I made this card for the Stamping with Shimmer Sprays Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. I love playing with sprays. just love them. still need lots of practice with them though.
For this card I sprayed the card background with a bunch of different sprays, and then i painted over my copics on the paint on the brushes with a clear shimmer spray. I also used a spritz of color behind the sentiment on the inside.

Supplies: Everything from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted
Cardstock: White and Hawaiian Shores
Ink: Memento Black Ink & Clover Adirondack Ink
Ribbon: Hawaiian Shores Satin Ribbon
Stamps: PTI's Friendship Jar, Friendship Jar Fillers, Studio Style, & Unity's Donna Downey Imagine It set for the sentiment on the envelope.
