make it monday

I snuck out of bed to whip up a make it monday card for this week :)
this week's challenge is to make a custom copic striped ribbon. easy enough :)

whenever the challenges involve color, i've realized that i always go rainbow, blame it on being part of the lisa frank generation :)

for tonight's card, i went clean and simple, with an acetate card base, so my rainbow ribbon could take center stage.

i added some rainbow-ish mehndi medallions on the inside, and my happy trails sentiment on the front. the cool thing about decorating the ribbon with copics is that the pattern is crisp and visible on the back of the ribbon too, perfect for clear cards!

here's my card opened up a little bit so you can see the layers better :)

thanks for stopping by! lemme know what you think and have a great night!

supplies: everything's from papertrey ink unless otherwise noted
cardstock: clear and white
stamps: happy trails and mehndi medallion
ink: sailboat blue and purple twilight adirondack dye ink, barn door and wild honey distress ink, lemon drops and seed packet jenni bowlin dye ink, and jet black stazon
embellishments: white grosgrain ribbon and tiny attacher
copics: R46, YR16, Y08, G14, B28, V09

lawn fawn fun

tonight's card is a simple card using some fun lawn fawn stamps :)

Jeff's boss asked him for a card for someone transferring out of their group, the only catch was that she needed it tomorrow morning, so since it was a last minute card, i went CAS :)
Jeff said the guy likes airplanes so i went searching through my stamps for an airplane card and found one in my hello friend set from lawn fawn. I paired the plane with Quinn's ABCs, a strip of Studio Calico paper, and some baker's twine to finish it off.

i used the plane again on the inside with Papertrey Ink's Happy Trails stamp set for the sentiment.

I had a pretty fun day today. My mom and I went to Richmond to visit Aunt Bessie (my great-aunt). She's always fun to visit; she's 97 and full of millions of stories (some of which are about people i've never met) and I just love to listen to her talk. My mom and I are leaving on our cross country trip next Wednesday (we're driving from Virginia to California!) and I've been compiling a bunch of scrapbook supplies to take with us to scrapbook our trip on the go. I got a Fujifilm Pivi MP 300 mobile printer (that prints little credit card sized pictures directly from your phone or camera!) and a smash book for each of us. So excited! We're planning to stop at Biltmore in North Carolina, Graceland and the Parthenon (and an Archivers store) in Tennessee, then we'll swing down to New Orleans, drive across the desert and see the Grand Canyon, and finish with a bunch of stops in California. I'm hoping to post some pictures of my smash book in progress from the road. :)

Thanks for stopping by! Lemme know what y0u think!

I made mine by layering some pretty authentique paper on kraft and rustic cream with the half and half and mat stack 5 dies

I wasn't sure where i was going to go with this card until i tried to go to sleep on Monday night; I got the idea and had to hop out of bed and grab my stamps and layer my die cuts before my brain would shut off for sleep :)

Thanks for stopping by! Lemme know what you think!

fun new (to me) challenge!

Hi! Happy Monday!
I'm having a great day, having spent all day in my studio getting inky and working on submission calls, contests, and a card order :)

Lawn Fawn is sponsoring this week's challenge at CAS-ual Fridays,
(thanks for posting a link to the challenge on facebook lawnfawn! i love finding new challenges!)
This week's challenge is to create a 4x9 card and keep it clean and simple!

i decided to go ahead and break out some of my newer lawn fawn stamps for this card. I don't usually use clean and simple designs, i can never leave white space alone. so this was a fun stretch.

thanks so much for stopping by! I'd love it if you can leave a comment and let me know what you think!

have a great night!

cardstock: papertrey ink stamper's white
stamps: lawn fawn clear to see
ink: ranger archival jet black ink and jenni bowlin chewing gum dye ink
embellishments: gemstones
