make it monday

this week's make it monday challenge was to use dry brushing on a project.
i used black paint for my dry brushing to make a chalkboard kind of feel for my back to school card (i don't even have kids and i can't wait for school to start! the neighborhood kids have been tormenting my dog this week, banging sticks against our fence and throwing water on her, oh september, where are you?) i made my own ink pad with reinkers for the lined paper in the center of the card :)

i was super happy with how this card turned out (even if it did take me all day to get it right...)
Thanks for stopping by! Please leave a comment and let me know what you think!

make it monday

went with a super girly card today, kind of shabby-chic-ish too :)

this is for this week's make it monday, the challenge was to create a pocket with papertrey ink's edger dies, i only have the doily edger dies, i haven't picked up the other ones yet.

i actually made my pocket first, i knew exactly how i wanted it and it went pretty fast, but then it took me another two hours or so to make a card base i liked for it :)

here's the card:

and here it is without the insert in the pocket, i stamped the inside of the pocket so there would be a pretty pattern showing through when you take the insert out :)

i played with another of my new fresh ink pads for this, the gingham and sentiment are stamped in fresh ink melon pigment ink and i'm still pretty pleased about it :) i mentioned how super awesome their white ink is in my last post, if you're interested, i bought my ink online here.

thanks for stopping by, lemme know what you think!

More Make it Monday

I had so much fun last night getting inky with my card for this week's make it monday challenge that i decided to stay up (way past my bedtime) and try some multicolored reinker stamping with the beautiful blessings stamp set and i ended up making two more cards:)

I used Papertrey Ink's Simply Chartreuse and Tsukineko's Pinecone reinkers for the sentiments, i really wanted to highlight the bold words with the green ink to make them stand out more :)

so here are my cards:

the joyful in hope poppies card:

and the ordinary day lillies card (i don't actually know what kind of flowers those are supposed to be, but they kind of look like water lillies to me so that's what i'm calling them :)

oh, and on a side note, this card was a test drive for my new white pigment ink i ordered last week, if you haven't tried Fresh Ink's white pigment ink, go get some immediately, it stamped like a dream, great coverage with just one gentle pounce on the pad, it had perfect coverage but it didn't gunk up my stamp and block with excess ink, so i could actually see where i wanted to stamp, it showed up really well on darker cardstock, and it wasn't too bad of a pain to clean off of my stamp. big fan. i've tried american crafts, papertrey ink, versa color, and versa magic white pigment inks before but fresh ink just soared to the top of my favorites :)

Thanks for stopping by! Please let me know what you think! :)
Have a great day! - hope the weather isn't as stormy for you wherever you are! the thunder keeps freaking out my dog here :)

Make it Monday #22

This week's Make it Monday challenge is multi-color stamping with ink refills; i've done this a few times (mostly playing along with tim holtz's twelve tags of christmas) so i decided to use a whole rainbow of colors for fun :)

i use Ranger's cut-n-dry (foam or felt will work, i've used both) to make my ink pad and i used distress reinkers (i have more of the reinkers for distress - i still can't wait until the new pti inks come out!) if you keep your inked foam in a sealed baggie - you can reuse it - alot :)

here's a shot of my mess :)
