Birthday Card

Good morning!

Is anyone else just overwhelmed with all of fun craft stuff they want to buy this month?!
Every morning i check Tim's blog to see the 12 tags of christmas and he ends up adding about another $100 of product to my wishlist with each tag. Then I bought my new Hero Arts Stamps yesterday (and let me say YAY!!!!! can't wait to ink those up!). Lawn Fawn is having their contest to be in their CHA booth and catalog, but i didn't have the 4 sets to use in the challenge, so of course i needed those. Then to top it all off, papertrey ink is doing it again; i haven't seen anything in the sneak peeks that i don't want yet!
makes me wish i hadn't passed out wishlists for christmas and my birthday yet :)

as some of you know i took a ridiculous spill on some ice on tuesday. i mean really ridiculous, as in worthy of a goofy cartoon kind of a fall. and the worst part of it was that i KNEW the ice was there, i avoided it going into my friend's house (it was on her sidewalk/walkway to the house thing) and even pointed it out to my mom so she wouldn't slip. Came back out of the house and my feet flew right out in front of me, and i landed full force on my tail. ouch.
well i'm pretty pleased to say that i don't think it's broken, i can wiggle and hop around again now, the only time it hurts is when i have to bend down to pick something up from the floor.
i am a little leery of going (on purpose) ice skating this season though, i've probably tempted fate quite enough for one holiday season :)

well if you're still here reading this then you definitely deserve to see a card!

here's a pretty one :)
I just love building my backgrounds with the guidelines 2 set, LOVE it.

through the trees

Here's a pretty masculine (oxymoron much?) card i made ages ago, i've been working on a huge order of cards for a friend and so i've been going back through my old cards these past few weeks rather than making anything new. It's been killing me because i got my new banner builder set and my new year of flowers mums set from pti AND the twas the night before christmas set (which is my first set from waltzingmouse stamps!) and i haven't allowed myself to ink them up yet until i finish my friend's order. (torture!)

i should be done with all of her cards and tags tonight and i can't wait to make some new things and maybe a few things for the papercrafts submission call :)

and on tuesday afternoon i'm heading up to scrapdoodles to get the december issue of cards magazine with my first published card!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i can't wait to see it!

anyways, my break is over and i'm off to finish my order so i can earn some christmas present money :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Papertrey Ink January Blop Hop!

This is my first blog hop with PTI!!! I'm so excited :)

The challenge this month was:

Total Package Challenge

During this month's release there was a lot of chatter about the interior of cards and how they don't
always get the attention they need. This month's challenge is to create a card that has the "total
package". Create any style card you can dream up, then take it the next step. Embellish the interior
and adorn the envelope. You might even want to add a little something to the back of the card! Be sure
to take photos of ever aspect so we can all be inspired with what you create! We can't wait to see what
you make!

I made a card (front and inside!) and an envelope using the Honey Bees set!

(the white honey comb pattern is actually a Basicgrey patterned paper that i cut out and popped up, the actual paper is used as the backdrop for the other pictures!)

the card front:

the inside:

the envelope:
Supplies: (All supplies from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted!)

Stamps: Honey Bees
Ink: Summer Sunrise & True Black
Cardstock: True Black & Summer Sunrise
Patterned Paper: urban prairie/wildflowers from Basicgrey
Fibers: Summer Sunrise Ribbon, Black polka-dotted ribbon from stash
Tools: Circle & Scalloped Circle Die from Spellbinders

(this card's a little busier than what i usually design, i'm not sure if i really like it :)

yummy brunch!

I had some friends over for brunch today and i finally got to use my ebelskiver pan!
I made ebelskivers with spiced apple filling
(ebelskivers are a type of Danish round pancake usually with a filling)

very yummy

here's the pan with the batter

the finished pancakes

from left to right: Iwalani, Yvonne, Wendy, & my Mom (Clara)

I really want to get started making some cards and layouts because that's really all i plan to do for the next few days, but i have to clean my desk first, it's piled high with paper and stamps that need to be cleaned :)

so i should be posting some fabulous creations later today after i've sorted through the mess :)

I got a bunch of new papertrey ink stamps for christmas
and my birthday and here are a few cards i made with my new toys :)

blue guidelines card:
ok, the guidelines stamp sets have to go up
in my top five favorite stamps EVER!

text & flourishes card:
i love being able to make a text background!!!!
(i'm not physically capable of altering books or
ripping pages out of books so i'm thrilled to be
able to make my own text-y paper :)

pink autumn abundance card:
pretty!!! i also got a GREAT set of colored pencils
from my mom for my birthday, i'll post a
picture of it later this week :)

kraft-y autumn abundance card:
this image is the reason i got this set, i love the sunflowers!!!!

guidelines gift bag:
all of these cards were a gift for a very special
friend and needed a fabulous bag to live in :)

blue guidelines card:
ink: Papertrey Ink: enchanted mist and spring rain, StazOn: timber brown
paper: Papertrey Ink: kraft & spring rain
Stamps: Papertrey Ink: guidelines 2 & giga guidelines
other: Kaisercraft pearls and PTI ribbon

text & flourishes card:
ink: Papertrey Ink: ripe avocado, Close to my Heart: chocolate
Paper: Papertrey Ink: vintage cream & ripe avocado
stamps: background basics: text & fancy flourishes
other: kaisercraft pearls

pink autumn abundance card:
ink: Papertrey Ink: Melon Berry, Stazon: Black

kraft-y autumn abundance card:

ink: hibiscus burst, aqua mist, & summer sunrise
stamps: guidelines 2 & tiny treats: valentine
other: kaisercraft gems & PTI ribbon

3 kings cards

these cards & gift bag were a christmas gift
for a friend who collects the three wise men,

her collection is crazy nifty,

and i found a northwoods stamp of the three wise
men and i though that i'd make a card set with that
stamp for her for christmas :)

for the gift bag i used my silhouette to cut out
the three wise men and i used a cuttlebug
embossing folder and a couple of fiskars border punches

for this clear card i used the northwoods stamp, a close
to my heart stamp, a fiskars border punch, and some sei ribbon

this one was pretty simple, just the northwoods stamp and lots of coloring :)

i use fiskars border punches a bunch.

ok, this one was pretty neat, i can't even think of
what this type of card is called but i like it :)

oh, my friend's favorite color is red, which is why i
tried to keep red as the dominant color in most of the
cards (i just couldn't stay away from kraft and
when i use kraft i really like to pair it with a darker
chocolate brown!) anyways, for this one i used
the cuttlebug embossing folder and then colored
the embossed swirls with a gold metallic marker

and another pretty simple one, just the stamp, some
thread, an embossing folder, and a touch of glitter :)

thanks for stopping by!
